I know. That's why I asked if it occurred in the other two modes.

He said it does. So it might point to another issue that isn't software.

Yes, I wondered - that's why I thought the Vehicle Data Recordings might have something there - particularly as he had the MALFUNCTION triangle show up. I'm fairly sure I read that they're recorded for service to interrogate.

Hey guys, so today I got my car back from the dealership with upsetting results.

They said in their report: “Drive motors are energized to hold car in position. Hold is only for ten seconds. Display shows power flow. Vehicle is working as designed.”

They said that nothing is wrong with the car and they were pulling lies out of their asses saying that the car has Hill Assist and the electric motors holds the car when on a hill. I told him that uses the brakes not the motor. No error codes were found.

Total BS if you ask me as you can feel when the Hill Assist brakes releases after about two seconds.

It’s like they’re telling me my car only started working properly two weeks ago. I should have asked to test drive a new Prius from the lot to show them that they’re wrong. When I got home I sat in my driveway for more than ten seconds waiting for the power flow to stop as they said in the report, but instead I seen my traction battery draining slowly.

So can someone please verify with their 2016 Prius that the electric motors should shut off while in drive, parking brake off and foot on brake paddle and facing up on a hill. Please, because I swear it only started doing this two weeks ago, or am I going crazy and just didn’t recognize it doing this? Thanks!

I cannot duplicate your issue on my 2016. When stopped and brake on, no energy flow!

Mine is as I posted [post #17]. Is your A/C ON - mine was off (because it was cool)?

Did you ask someone else in your country, in case there is a Hawaii "version" of PRIUS?

I confirmed this same behavior today that I had never noticed before I read this thread.

Stopped on a significant hill and power continued to flow for at least 15 seconds (car was coming up from behind so I aborted the test). This was observed on the main screen, A/C on, normal mode. Hill assist brakes were also active.

My theory is that, for safety reasons, a steep enough grade will activate both modes (brakes and juice to the motor). This does not happen on lesser inclines. Anecdotal but makes sense to me!
