Some have already ended. That should be no surprise to anyone watching the support for oil grow, as renewable interest is undermined.
The change started about 1996 with the mandate for un-leaded gas. Soon there were packaged foods with big labels claiming no added sugar. Vegetables containing no cholesterol. Then no GMOs. No hormones. No antibiotics. No gluten. No trans-fats. Even the phone companies got into the act with digital services and cell phones that don't provide a dial tone. Each was priced higher than the product it replaced. And thus we have modern marketing where less costs more. In fact, I am going to add value to this comment by not putting in any more words.
And I, for one, am supremely happy to pay a couple extra cents per gallon for gas that doesn't cause brain damage in millions of children! Such a travesty it took us until 1996 to finally transition, though.
I appreciate your info, particularly vis a vis our glorious Federal Government and their truly wonderful work!! Yawoooeee!! I think atheism might be making gains, God help us.. Maybe She/He no longer believes in us??!! .
Would loss of the tax credit be much of an impact on Prime sales, since with the Prime, with existing federal credit and state tax and utility incentives, the Prime is ultimately priced lower than an equivalent liftback? Are Toyota's rebates more for the Prime than the liftback? You also have the benefit of carpool lane stickers in some states and some of us have solar so there is an economic benefit to having a plug in car.
I went to CarMax in Laurel Md to buy a car because of SET. See their cars on the net but they will all be list. Email for a quote. Their internet sales picked me up at the metro stop nearest and I went up on the train and metro. Hassle free, no up-selling, out the door in 30 minutes. That was 2011 though I just got a email quote on a new car from them a few weeks ago and their deal was still well under local. I know in advance to the penny the bank check to bring and it is minus lots of SET add-ons in addition to being discounted. No service hassles. Temp tags. Only issue is the title mailed to you maybe 2 weeks later has to have the person's name who picked the car up and was there to make/sign the application. Since it was my wife's car and she wanted her name on the title, I had to re-title it in my home state. Not a biggie.
The tax credit is the only federal credit. Without it, there will be an impact on Prime sales, if Toyota doesn't increase their incentives. How much the impact will be depends on the state. States with generous local incentives won't see as much of a drop. The HOV stickers in California are worth about the same as the federal tax credit, based on what they added to the value of a used gen2 back in the day. The rebates on the Prime are higher than the Prius in some areas. Generally ones that don't have generous local incentives.
Let the price of gasoline rise another dollar a gallon and that will be all the incentive that people will need Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
For the Prius, yes. For the Prime, perhaps if Prius stocks go down. Some Prime sales are because the current incentives make it cost less than the Prius. That will change if people have to pay more for it.
Absolutely. Guess which states fought for leaded gasoline until the bitter end, when their freedom to poison their children was curtailed by the big, bad, federal government.
For comparison you might want to check out Miller Toyota in Manassas Virginia. They even have a salesman who still drives his Gen 1 Prius. Sam Lee is very easy to deal with long distance.
Yup! If they improve, it's a sign our country might be headed in a more ecologically responsible direction. I have, however not seen ANY ads for these unicorns here in Socal. I do see the beasts themselves every single day. Popular yet unacknowledged!! .
perhaps the removal of tax credits, how stickers and any other incentives will really tell us. unfortunately, i think i already know.
All those incentives are needed at this time, as inducements to combat the ridiculous mindsets of, "bigger is better", "the Vrrrrooom" effect of noisy ICE so-called performance cars, and "Electric/hybrids are for geeks and nerds"!! The upcoming gasoline big-price increases will bring back religion to the marketplace. Where I am, the lone occupants in these lumber wagons, Stupid Useless Vehicles, trucks, and other land barges continue to appall me daily. Will we learn our lesson before it's too late!!?? .
