EMERGENCY - son stranded - all lights, RTOD, flaky

    That's all the possibility maybe it's broken down and causing an electrical problem inside the tranny or it's been replaced with the wrong fluid and it's now just starting to rear it's ugly head I don't know. I would check to see if there's a subcode for the 3102 looking in the freeze frame data or whatever If there is get it and then we need to see what all that business is about usually is three digits you know like 325 or 697 or 611 some kind of stuff like that and that leads you at least somewhat out of the darkness I guess but yeah generally transmission problems are not too good I don't know if that's transmission that's just transmission ECU or something so maybe it's just miscommunication because of faulty 12 volt or Mary ads of other things We do know we have very good 12 volt on this vehicle they're no issues there It can stand 5 or 10 minutes being on without plummeting into the toilet voltage wise?

    AFAIK Dr. Prius is blind to all Cxxxx codes (and a bunch of others too).

    Chances are those chassis codes are not all simultaneously active.

    There isn't a code for an exhaust leak, but depending on where it is it could create circumstances that would cause you could pick up emissions-related errors like the P0420.

    Yesterday I installed a new DieHard battery in the car. Today, I am seeing several icons (that I don't recall seeing yesterday).' I have ABS, the car with swervy lines, ((!)), CEL, maint req'd.
    I got techstream running and hooked up. I did a health check- and I have not yet gotten it to tell me any codes. It shows a table of results in red, but I click on one and it doesn't show codes. I clicked the clear all codes button, and it confirmed that I wanted to clear and I did- but I still have the icons. I need to learn this thing.

    Since the previous post, I let the car sit for a few days. This morning, I plugged in my Nexas ODB2 dongle and ran Torque pro. It reported no codes. AND- the various icons on the dash are off! It healed itself, I guess.
    Bear in mind that it has a brand new 12v DieHard battery. I drove it around a bit this morning and it seems fine. I do need to fix the exhaust- muffler totally broken off from the mid pipe. But other than that, I wonder if I can trust this car for a while?
    I plan to hook up TechStream again and see what it reports.

    FYI, Torque is very limited in what it can do (just "generic" ECM functions and some stuff from hybrid control and battery ecu's). I would recommend using Techstream to scan all systems for codes.

    You can also look at other scantools - here is a review of several apps and devices. Some are "all system" capable.

    Point taken, but what I find interesting/annoying is the dash trouble icons (mostly ABS related) suddenly being gone, without be doing anything. They seem like a chimera.

    Here is a list of similar C codes from an older Gen 2 thread so you at least have the basic list.

    1. C1241 - too low or too high battery volts
    2. C1271 - Low Output Voltage of Right Front Speed Sensor
    3. C1272 - Low Output Voltage of Left Front Speed Sensor
    4. C1273 - Low Output Voltage of Right Rear Speed Sensor
    5. C1274 - Low Output Voltage of Left Rear Speed Sensor
    6. C1275 - Abnormal Change in Input Voltage of Right Front Speed Sensor
    7. C1276 - Abnormal Change in Input Voltage of Left Front Speed Sensor
    8. C1277 - Abnormal Change in Input Voltage of Right Rear Speed Sensor
    9. C1278 - Abnormal Change in Input Voltage of Left Rear Speed Sensor
    10. C1281 - Master cylinder (M/C) pressure sensor output signals is faulty

    The 2 or 3 digit INF code that techstrem shows with these codes are just as important as the codes themselves to point at the specific reason the codes were set.

    The P3102 codes INF ( I'd think ) might be the most important INF to get, but that all depends on exactly what happened when the triangle showed up.

    It doesn't look to me like the old thread I got the C codes form would be helpful to you, but here's the link anyway in case it does.

    Torque can only read data from a few select systems in a Prius. You won't find many problems if you search with your eyes closed.

    You could just hope that the problems went away and stay away, or you could use better tools to find out what really happened and get ahead of any possible recurrence.

    When the warning lights come on again, use Techstream to run a full health check of the car. Then come back and tell us what trouble codes were found. Better yet, post pictures of Techstream showing the trouble codes.

    I did a techstream check of everything and it came back with no codes- well, one that doesn't count: B1421
    So- it is a case of miraculous healing.
    I need to research- but should those calibration codes concern me?
    Seriously, my guess is that the new 12v resolved the issues.
    I put on a new muffler today. I guess I'll drive it and see if it craps out. I don't think I'll do any long distance drives for a while.

    After replacing the 12v battery, did you put foot on brake and press the power button 2 times? The first time will result in a bunch of warning lights illuminating on the dash. keep foot on brake, wait a couple seconds and press power button again. All lights clear and car goes to READY mode. Standard requirement following a 12v battery replacement if you don't use a maintainer to keep the 12v system energized.

    That is very doubtful. A bad 12v battery usually will not trigger the red triangle (master warning) light.

    You need to drive the car and have Techstream available to run the health check after the warning lights come on again. That may occur tomorrow or a week or two from now. But I believe the warning lights will come on again if you drive it enough.

    If, in changing the 12 V battery, you removed all power from the car then you also removed all trouble codes the car had at the time.

    Time will tell if the car has indeed 'healed thyself'.
    Absolutely not. These are akin to a software version number and as such are just informational.

    I am aware that disconnecting the battery will clear any codes. After I connected the new battery, I did have the warning lights. Those have gone away on their own.

    So, yeah- I need to drive it a bit and maybe I'll keep my techstream laptop in the car.
