    the problem is, all these private businesses depend on the taxpayer to shoulder the burden of infrastructure.
    not many in congress are up to the task

    Some? Yes,most definitely, but not all.
    Amazon’s drone delivery program, I suspect, is more about making it less expensive/more efficient to deliver product.
    Tesla decided that charging infrastructure was a requirement to make BEVs truly popular. The saw the need and built it themself.

    tesla is not going to roadbeds for heavier loads, and amazon has persueded the faa to give them priority airspace

    Excellent points. Where do you draw the line though?

    • No companies that ship via trucks really pay for the damage their trucks do to roads.
    • Businesses, in general, don’t pay for the education their workforce has received prior to their first day of work.
    • No business in the USA pays for the healthcare costs their pollution inflicts upon the population, barring direct accidents they cause. And even then, they skirt by paying less than the true cost.

    agreed, you can't draw a line. it's up to congress, and we know how that goes.

    but i cannot see them improving roads and bridges for heavier loads. i can see them allowing heavier loads if they get enough money from the truckers, and the general populace having to live with the destruction
