I was told this was an informative forum. I don't see the point of this foolishness.

Come on people! It's all in good fun! Can we not be informative and humorous?

If you only want Prius info, do not, I repeat, do not venture into FHOP or you will be shocked and apalled.

I'm going to have to agree with Micheal and point out that this is Fred's House of Pancakes. This forum is "recess" to Priuschat's "school." I would rather joke about the {YOU} command n Fred's than read flamewars and monitor for trolls.

If you're looking for knowledge, here are a few starting places:

    http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=17781
    http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=17552

I could go on but I won't. The point is that the "intelligent" posts are in other forums. If you use the "posts since your last visit" tool like I do, be sure to look exactly one column to the right where the forum is listed. Do'nt click on the ones in Fred's.

A while back, I saw Ira Glass (host of "This American Life" on National Public Radio) give a talk. He talked about how their show was different from most other "news" shows. Many "news" shows have the format of:

    1. Serious Story
    2. Serious Story
    3. Serious Story
    4. Wacky/Funny Story (usually by the weatherman or sports guy)

This American Life is not like that. There's very funny humor mixed with much more serious issues and serious discussion. Ira Glass' position was that this is what life is like. Life doesn't neatly seperate into "serious" components and "funny" components.

If this were a purely informational forum, I probably wouldn't be as addicted to it as I am. I wouldn't enjoy the conversations here as much. Most of that wackyness is confined to FHOP, so you don't have to read much of it. But, on the occation that it does spread into the main forums, it doesn't bother me; in fact, it may be part of the reason that I actually keep reading.

    Just my $0.02

EDIT: Oh yeah. If you've never heard This American Life, it's well worth it. Go have a listen. . .
