Old thread that never did get a solution. I suspect that the 12V battery was disconnected at some point and the vehicle had to re-learn the habits of the driver, resulting in a change in mpg. It's interesting how closely some folks monitor their mpg. For the later posts, this might also be the cause. I recall there is a setting to turn on or off the ECO flag in the MFD.

I would love to know if there is an update on this - did the eco mode return to normal function after some time? I have the exact same issue with my 2015 prius, after having a dealership turn off the reverse beep, the ECO mode is as Cheapbyte described. The engine revs up as if it is in power mode. I noticed it immediately upon driving away from the service center. I am taking the vehicle back to the dealership but doubt if they will be able to figure it out. Hoping there is some sort of solution because I hate to lose mpg!

you don't really lose mpg's in normal mode, just go a little lighter on the pedal and hvac

Why didn't you turn right around and go back and tell them to fix it?

I doubt they can fix it when they have no idea what IT is.

They caused it. It worked when you took it in, and didn't when you left.
    It's their problem.

That might be, but that doesn’t mean they have a solution.

it's not a definitive problem. iow, they'll say no codes, no problem, and toyota will back them up.

yeah, they took a look at it and said the vehicle is functioning at optimum performance and there is nothing wrong. When I told them as proof that MPG went way down since they worked on it, they blamed the weather. Just a word of advisement to anyone in the future who may come across this forum topic, if you want to keep your eco mode, I would advise not to mess with the reverse beep. I wish I hadn't.

Turning off the continued reverse beeping was the first thing I turned off when I got techstream!
My echo mode works just fine.
They did something else too it. Time to find a different dealer.
Or get techstream and run through it and turn it back on.
