Driver Power Door Lock Actuator Failed at 55k Miles

I've quit locking the car when it's in our garage, cut's the lock activations maybe in half.

 

Nice to see that part is now 37 USDs.. Thanks for posting this info..
PS: I see this part with fit my 2014 RAV4 too..

 

Wow, okay that took me longer than I realised to get it fixed.

If anyone’s interested, the total damage ended up being:

A$192.75 69040-42230 (Left side actuator)
A$199.64 69030-42210 (Right side actuator)
A$296.01 Labour

A$688.40 (a bit shy of US$500).

Ouch. I didn’t have the time or confidence to DIY.

 

Amazing to see how many threads have proliferated over the door lock actuators now.... and that they seem to use the same part on so many vehicles when it clearly isn't up to the job. Not even sure how long ago my rear right hand side passenger door lock joined this club but when getting the car serviced today I bit the bullet and started the process telling them to look at it and expecting them to tell me what they'd have to order in. Which they did and I told them to order it.

Except now I get home and of course googled the part - 85720-0K270 - and it seems this is a power window regulator/motor assembly? Looks like 69050-06100 is far more likely to be the part that actually needs replacement. Not sure how to go about contacting the place with the old "Um yeah you're the professionals and I just use Google but I'm pretty sure that part you're getting is wrong".

I've seen the DIY videos which I'm glad exist but I can safely say that job is absolutely not for me so I'm stuck with paying someone to deal with these poorly designed and/or manufactured locks.

So I kind of got busy and forgot all about it. Dropped the car off today and then they've called me saying "So the part we ordered isn't the one that turned up... we needed the lock motor and some power window part turned up".

Sure buddy.

 

And to close this one out - they ended up using a 6905033120 (apparently an earlier version of the 6905006100), coming in over A$500 less than power window motor they originally wrongly specified but realised their mistake. Still A$470 this time (of which A$310 was the part) - ouch, or about US$350.
