I wasn't able to find warranty information for the Dorman battery through summit.

    Do you know ?
    I'm specifically interested in knowing
    *Duration
    *Return fees (S&H) ?
    *Turn-around time

i agree, good batteries can sit for a long time. it's rebuilt with questionable cells that may or may not suffer.

searched their website, $1,332. free shipping, $975. core return, not clear who pays core shipping, but says free shipping on entire order.

warranty: dorman warrants it's products to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service. cv boot air tools and rear axle shafts are under a 2 year limited warranty, all other products are under a limited lifetime warranty.

Somehow that does not include the traction battery.

The Dorman warranty for batteries sounds good; actually, the only reasonable warranty I know of for a refurb. The only caveat I can think of that might be of particular concern to single-car owners is the time to delivery of a replacement battery.

My intention is to swap in new or lightly used G3 modules, but if a car is only expected to live another 24 months or so the Dorman is a very fair consideration.

the website showed a delivery date of 08/04/15.

there must be a separate warranty, but i couldn't find it. the one i got was a link at the bottom of the battery details.

    To Whom It Should Concern(respectfully)

    Dorman
    Reinvolt
    John Taylor

Where to start, I have multiple issues with any remanufactured parts but have landed now on a dorman 587 -001 gen 2 prius rebuilt/reman hybrid battery. When my 08 prius had hybrid battery failure (2 months ago) which had the warning issues of engine run at idle, low batterystatus, rear blower running long duration, and then red triangle of death, sg2 failure codes.

Clearly my replacement battery from Oreilly/dorman/ and reinvolt had the intial appearance of needed relief.

Sadly, the reliability, quality, hassle factor, and value are not bearing that out currently for me. I realize that recondition usednimh cells are somewhat unique by defintion. 7.2v cell charge, discharge, cycle life, etc. When I say I am frustrated by this product that is me kinda being nice. Harsh reality someone rebuild / reman process has left me out in the 103 degree Texas summer sun .I will be sending back the failed reman battery.

I also have issues with the after/secondary hybrid battery domestic market which lack veracity in claims made. All the seals and orange HV spray paint like lipstick on pig .Kinda doubt a local Toyota dealer would allow for core charge. Hybrid battery sellers statements of 90 day, 3 month , 3 year , etc just a selling tool

Toyota dealer 4000 dollar plus core charge has more promise to me currently than the sellers of used/reman that range from 3700 to 999 .Toyota dealers abide by some basic business codes/practices. All the others have quality/reliable issueswhich leave me out 2200 dollars and not finding my relief

yup, there's no free lunch. unfortunately, this process is still hit or miss, that's why warranty and ease of access to replacement is so important.

I'm wondering if anyone has successfully returned a Dorman Orange battery as a core return for a new Toyota battery?
I need my third Doman in 9 months and, at this point, I just want to pay Toyota and be done (without losing the $1300 core credit).

Do you think the Toyota dealer will actually look for a part barcode to scan on the returned battery or will I likely be OK if it simply looks like it should? Wondering about getting that *&$!? orange paint off...

If you're paying Toyota for a new battery, you can return any core you want. They don't rebuild with the core.

Hey there - Yes, I went through two Dorman batteries in the period of 5 months earlier this year. I wasn't about to install the third Dorman battery. I have a new OEM battery in my 2007 Prius.

I will say this: Dorman was motivated to "make things right" and once I was speaking to key decision-makers at Dorman, as well as at CarQuest (where my auto-mechanic sourced the battery), I got satisfaction.

I had a brutal story that included being stranded for 8 days while on vacation - incurring all the costs that come with that (lodging, car rental, incidentals, etc...)

I certainly wish Dorman all the best. I know they do not want the bad press, but three batteries in such a short period? - That's absurd. I don't understand how they could have gone to market.

The problem is not Dorman, it's the old batteries. It's like Sylvester Stallone as Rambo at 69 years old....it just won't work.
