Don't put the jump box or cables in the storage under the hatch

    If the new battery can be charged and tests ok, then use a digital multimeter to measure voltage at the battery or the underhood jump-start point. If it's around 14.0V with the car in ready mode, then the charging system (the DC-DC converter) is working as it should. That would leave some sort of unintentional high draw that is draining the battery - aka "key off draw".

    It can be very tricky to diagnose this kind of fault, as you need a meter or "amp clamp" that can accurately measure very low current flow from the battery, the vehicle wiring diagram (and can read said diagram), and are able to test and locate what circuit the draw is on.

    Going to Mechanic on Thursday LTMFIO. I really don't think its because something is not shut properly as when you lock car with fob if a door is open it beeps. I haven't been driving at night so lights have not been on.

    electrical gremlins can be tough to track down. make sure the mech tests the battery with a load tester, then tests all the points of connection, including the jump point under the hood.
    if everything is good, he needs to put a meter on it and measue the draw compared to toyota's spec. if it's high, the search begins.
    a simple method is to measure the static voltage in the evening and morning. if it is dropping, the tough work begins.
    make sure all the lites are off after closing the doors in the dark, and lock the door to be sure nothing is ajar.

    How much time do you spend driving a day? A Prius 12v is charged more as a factor of time. It charges at a relativity fixed rate. I turned off my SKS when I started working at home. Will turn it back on when I start going to work everyday.

    So everything checked out with the mechanic. He said the negative wire was not all the way down but did not think that would cause it. He suspected it was within the security system. We decided to test it by locking the car making sure I activated the system and see if it goes dead.again. He also said my original fog was acting lazy and to change the battery.

    A ground wire (negative wire) not being tight can wreak all kinds of problems. That's always item #1 to check when having electrical issues.

    Did your mechanic test (measure) the amount of current used by the car when it is turned off? (aka "key off draw). I usually have to trip the tailgate latch shut with the gate up so I can get to the 12V battery. Let the car sit for 15-20 min so all the computers" go to sleep" and measure the current. Typical is about 20 milliamps.

    No clue I did know it had one? He told me if someone tries to steal the car hen activated, it would shut down after a few miles and no start again..
