Just got my 2008 magnetic gray #6 with dark gray leather two days ago. Immediately named it Magneto. I've only named one other car in the distant past, but it felt right with this one. I'm more attracted (ha, ha) to this car than any other I've owned.
Car's name is Goldie. Installed Scangauge (great!), mud flaps (great!) and done grill blocking. Thinking about BT stiffining plate. Getting approx 51 MPG average (MFD).
I can't say mine is very creative (Virginia) but it's for my grandmother who just loved how quiet the Prius is!
The Gray Ghost is a magnetic gray pkg 6. The last mile to my house is very slightly downhill and part of that mile is a 15 mph school zone. I usually do the entire mile in stealth mode...quiet as a ghost.
I took delivery of my brand-spanking new 2008 black Prius, package #6 :drum: last week (Wednesday night to be exact) and had parked the car outside. I had not seen my parents when I got home, so was unable to tell them about the car. When I came upstairs the next morning, my dad said "You know anything about the 'Stealth Bomber' out there?". Since then the car has been referred to as "The Stealth Bomber" or "The Bomber" lane:, though the nav system is usually referred to as "Sasha" after my dad's TomTom unit.
This is my 7th car, but the first five didn't have names. I decided to break precedent with the 6th car, a 1998 red Acura Integra. The name was going to be Desiree Billie Joe, because I got the car on June 3, 1998, and I knew of two songs that start, "It was the 3rd of June" - "Desiree" by Neil Diamond and "Ode to Billie Joe" by Bobby Gentry. However, a few days later, someone doing some welding in the building in which I live set off the smoke detection system, which in turn set off the building fire alarm and called 911. I evacuated along with my neighbors (fortunately it was a nice June afternoon), and several fire apparatus soon showed up. I noticed my shiny new car sitting close to a fire engine and realized that it was even redder than the fire engine. (Actually, some of the fire companies around here have other colors - I know two that are yellow and one that is white with green trim. But everything that came that day was red.) From that moment on, I thought of my car as "that big red thing," which soon got shortened to Big Red. My new Prius is the Seaside Pearl color. I came up with the following name possibilities: Car Sung Blue Forever in Blue Car My Blue Destiny Blue Highway Rider Traveling Optimist Blues I posted these ideas on a message board frequented by others who are also fans of a certain singer (already mentioned in this message), and My Blue Destiny seemed to be the favorite. And I like it, too. But I'm still going to wait and see how things turn out. While I normally like the color blue, it is also the dominant color of both my least favorite pro football team and my least favorite college football team. (Don't let the Pennsylvania residency fool you on the latter - I grew up in Maryland and always dreaded the week when the Terps played the Nittany Lions. As for the former, let's just say that having lived in both the Washington and Philadelphia areas, there's a major division rival located much to the southwest of both cities that gives the fans located there fits.)
My daughter named my car "Mini", so that's what we now call it. I tried to tell her that's the name of another brand of car, but she couldn't be convinced otherwise.
Nothing official, but I call it "My Precious" a lot because a friend of mine was teasing me about loving it so much, so I called it "My precious" kind of as a Lord of the Rings joke. I now refer to it as such often, i.e., 'I must protect my preeeecious" while I'm parking it in the garage or 'My preeeecious can never be dirty' when I wash it, etc.
