Yep, I had never named a car before but mine is named Sputnik. I had a little Sputnik model but the satellite is loose so it has to be fixed again.

After a few weeks of calling our Prius Snowflake, my wife informed me that our kids (they are grown) wondered why I would name a car that....

So my family suggested calling her "SNU 2".

SNU was the name of a white car we had in the early 80's that we hated to give up (it was a Datsun). Even tho SNU 2 is much bigger, nicer and gets better mileage, we still have fond memories of the original SNU (the only other car we have ever named).

"Beaver" is often in reference to a certain part of a female's anatomy, so calling your Prius the "beavermobile" sounds funny to some-

I just got my Prius today! (Silver Pine Package 5), and I immediately assumed it was a he. Don't know why.

But then I heard it speak, and it's a her! I'm so embarrassed!

I was going to name my car "Frankie" (in honor of my idol Frankie Manning). But I guess Frankie could still be a girl's name, right? So maybe I'll keep the name :).

"Spirit Queen". She's dark, carries a payload, and can run in stealth mode like a B-2.

Congrats Adam on your new Prius! Have you fallen in love with Frankie yet?

This is the first car I've ever even thought of naming. Trixie Blue she is and it fits her very well.

"Dora" the explorer. My daughter named her because of the fun we had with the NAV system on the way home from picking her up.

I named mine R2-D2, because he's silver, and kind of looks like R2-D2.

    See my sig.

I recently found out (from this board, in fact) that the Nav system is called Jill. I still call her Holly, though, from Red Dwarf.

My Prius has a first name. It's O-S-C-A-R. My Prius has a second name it's...

Oops. Uh, sorry, got my wires crossed. I already noted that my car's name is Frankie!

And what's amusing to me is how many of us have never named a car before, but have done so with our Prius. Go figure :)

P.S. -- I'm actually going to be taking dance lessons with the Frankie my car is named after... next week! I hope he doesn't think I've totally lost it, naming a car after him, and with the opposite gender, too :p

I named mine after the USS Cutlass, a WWII Diesel/Electic Submarine. I'm a bit of a navy geek, and thought it was apropos to name it after a ship with a similar propulsion system. I picked the Cutlas because it's launch date was the closest I could find to my dad's birthday.

/Yes, I know Prius don't run on diesel
/No, the old submarines weren't exactly equipped with a Synergy Drive
/And I know it's also the name of an Oldsmobile, that was the worst thing I realized, but I decided to trump that fact :)
