In the past 2 months I have definitely become a more mellow and courteous driver... Even my wife has commented on my driving style.

I still get the inking to go fast but I get to do that legally a few times a week as a volunteer firefighter and EMT in large, loud emergency vehicles with lots of flashing red lights!

On the interstate, I try to stay with 5 mph of the speed limit (both sides) depending on what it is. If it's 70, I'll max out at 65. If it's 55, I'll go as fast as 60. And I stay in the right-hand lane of course.

Just this morning - in my own neighborhood - I had two cars pass me because I was only doing the speed limit. It was 30 mph and there is construction, deer, kids, etc. Both of them blew by me at 45-55. Of course, they must've save a whopping 60 seconds in doing so.

Yes, we drive more mellow in the Prius. Unless we want that other lane or cut someone off who is demostrating bad behavior.

I actually found the Highlander Hybrid causing me to drive even more mellow than the Prius at times. With the larger mass, I notice things that I never noticed in the Prius, especially coasting over the top of a hill.

So do we drive more mellow because of:

    1. Feedback on milage impact from driving aggressively.

    2. Enjoyment of quiet and desire to avoid excessive noise.

    3. We want to prolong the drive time, since the cars is so fun to drive.

    4. Other.
