Does anyone know how much a full battery replacement for the Prius prime would cost ?

This report is unusual. Our early 2017 with 72k is still operating fine. We're close to the usual marks on the highway when the gas engine starts up, and much of that depends on heat pump draw, or in cold weather the seat heaters & steering wheel heater.

 

At $40,000 in many places like mine, tax, fees, and license on a new car will be almost half of the new battery from a Toyota dealer. It’s pricey but on mine I have until Oct 2030 before worrying. What I don’t know is how Toyota actually handles battery warranties, how much degraded it has to be or whatever.
To get 38 mpg on the gom, one has to have gone about 6 or more miles per kwh. I don’t seem to get that.

 

toyota pretty much speels it out. degradation is normal and not covered by warranty.
unless you get a battery trouble code, they will not provide warranty

 

Toyota does n't specify a specific percentage of degradation that is required for a battery to be replaced under warranty. However, the warranty does cover batteries that have degraded to the point where they can no longer provide sufficient power to the vehicle.

 

That could mean that as long as the car works as a hybrid, they won't replace a battery even if EV range is down to that of a PiP.
