Does AC turn on automatically in split windshield /floor mode?

    If anyone knows of a secret code or sequence to disable the automatic air conditioning let know. On Honda products there is usually some way to disable to interlock of AC and defrost mode. Don't know about Toyota or Prius.

    that would be cool, since just yesterday, i had the heat on and was defogging the windows, and thinking, i'm trying to warm air that is being cooled?:confused:

    That's not unusual. The typical winter AC use for us. Even summer use: set temp around 24C.
    But yeah, it'd be nice to be able to direct air at windshield without AC.

    The AC has a tendency to defrost/defog windshields and side windows far quicker than without. This has been true even in the old days, before most cars had integrated AC/Defrost modes. On my old cars, I used to set the AC manually to On in the winter, particularly in these colder Fall days as well, when the condensation builds.

    That's true. AC clears up the fog very effectively. But it appears you have no choice: direct air at the windshield, AC is on. ;(

    As far as I know, that's been a "feature" of most cars for many years.

    agreed, and a feature i could live without. especially when the temp is in the 30's and i'm running ev with no heat.:mad:
