Don't forget, past the 50% point on the pedal, Eco, Normal, and Power have no difference in response.

I think EV mode gives you better acceleration without using the ICE in the 0-25MPH range vs. EV off.

the 2010 does have more power than the previous prius.. The prius is not a car that's for revving up. I know when I'm driving mine. I can hit 70 and not realize it.. mine second-generation... I have got a chance to drive the 2010 and I feel little bit of difference... it's been stated to read other threads. 100% agree. I have learned so much from this group..thanks stefcat:cheer2:

Just so we are clear... you don't really "rev up" a hybrid. Because the engine(s) work on an algorithm which determines the optimal performance of the electric and fuel engines, there are times were you can be running silent...

... if you are looking for a car that you can make noise with, this might not be the car for you.

    That's possible. :)
It's kinda tough to balance it out if there are any hills. It doesn't take much of a grade to need enough power to shut off EV mode.
But for parking lots or any flat areas like at the beach (not on it) it's great fun to use it. :D

The Prius uses a planetary gear based transmission to split and utilize power from the engine and electric motors. It simulates a CVT transmission in operation which means there are no "gears". So if be "Rev Up" you are meaning the jerk and accelerate or clutch and shift that people are use to in conventional automobiles you won't ever get it in a Prius.

As always your best bet is a good test drive just to feel if you can be happy with the operation of the vehicle. The 2010 has a bigger engine and the available power mode but it still doesn't have a conventional transmission. You'll either be happy with it, or not be able to get used to it.
