I just started hearing some rattling after 10,000 miles. However it may be due to loose objects in the glove compartment.

Our rattle comes from two main areas, one was the glove box the other seems to be around the front passenger door.

I was able to put some foam tape around the two stop tabs on the lower glove box. Helped a little bit, however, the latch mechanism for the upper and lower glove boxes seems like the culprit. You can hear the rattle just banging on the latches.

Since I'm almost 2/3 through my first 12 months I'm going to give the Toyota the car all day next week to attempt their first try at stopping the rattles/vibrations that may be associated with my glove compartment boxes too. I'm apprehensive because neither Toyota or my dealer seem to have much of a clue about the right seat "vibrations/rattles". Any suggestions on how I can help them other then printing out choice threads here--which I will do?

I have been dealing with the rattle issue for about a year. Last year this time, the dealer replaced the center arm console which seemed to resolve that issue. However, the glove box rattle was more challenging. I let it slide until the recall madness was over and had the tech drive it. Of course he heard no rattling.

So this time around, instead of a road test, I had the tech come out to the car while I opened the glove box and pointed out all the rattles, such as the top box hinges, the latches, the blower motor cover at the base of the box, etc.

He definitely acknowledged the rattles and it did not require a road test. They decided to order many new glove box parts which will be installed next week.

I'll report back if there is improvement.

In short, I had better results in proving the rattles without a road test.

I have a weird subtle rattle in the back I can't seem to pinpoint...

and BTW, I have an A4 loaner car for my wife's TT that's in the shop....the loaner is a 2009 with 26k miles and guess what...solid as a rock, not one rattle or squeak even over the bumpiest roads.

So far, rattle free. My Prius is the quietest car I've ever owned (of 6). Go Toyota!

I have a rattle in the same place and it is driving me nuts. I have emptied the glove boxes to no avail. Hitting the closed glove box doesn't seem to make a difference either. The only thing that worked was bringing it into the dealer. The noise got afraid and went away, so could not be diagnosed. It returned, naturally, almost as soon as I left the dealer. I'll try to bring it back by sneaking up on it.
