Lame ? Think deeper. A million years is pretty short in earth history. Ice core sampling is not an exact science measuring down to about the 1000 year level. In other words, its like using a yard stick to measure the one one thousandth of a millimeter of human industrialization. I'll connect the dots of thought for you.

The age of the earth is estimated at 4.54 billion years
Assuming ice core samples go back 10s of millions of years that only represents about 1 % of earth history
Humans appear about 500,000 years ago which is about 0.01 % of earth history.
Human industrialization contribution to global warming began say 150 years ago which is basically zero on the earth time scale.

How do you measure the human impact on a global warming and cooling cycle ongoing over millions and millions of years by something so small ? Global warming and cooling is happening anyway.

A question that would need to be answered is : What is the amount of human caused global warming change per year vs. the control of having no humans on earth over that same year ? Not easy.
