I just finished this install on Tuesday. I give MAD props to CivicSky for this write up. I used this plus the video on youtube (its about 7:48 minutes long) and the other folding JDM mirror thread to decipher all the wire locations. For a 2012 plug in prius advanced, all the tap in locations are correct and consistent as per the install instructions. I recommend this upgrade to all my peeps!. I hear whispers from all the people waiting at valet etc. about how cool the car looks and they have never seen those puddle lights. The best part is that puddle lights stay on a loooong time (until you get in the car). Awesome diagrams, writeups etc.
One word of advice.....tap the A pillar blue wire lol!.

    Arek.

A nose pliers. I actually didn't remove the whole thing .. I just let it stay there and I worked around it. When u can see the wires cut all the tape holding them together until u can see and tap the wire.. Then tape it back up

I usually turn it with my fingers however I did have to use a pair of needle nose pillars on 1 of the installs I did.

Attempting to use my OEM covers for my V and regular prius soon and here are the updates. Finally able to make my template pattern for the cut. OEM BP color is hard to duplicate so I choose to try this method and maybe if successful, you guys can just buy the lights without the cover. ;) Please note that the OEM cover is from my regular prius. My regular prius has the MIT painted cover - a little darker the my OEM silver paint.

5.jpg I installed the same or similiar outside mirror lights

View attachment 47639 View attachment 47640

I already installed the blinker and running lights
and thise pics are of what I did to install or hook up the wires to give power
to the puddle lights ... which are the lights located on the bottom of the outside mirror lights

As you see in the pic above I pulled the plastic cover that is at the front of the overhead console
    near the windshield.

Pulling from the front edge near the windshield pull down and pop off this cover

with the front cover of the overhead console removed you then pull down
at the main part of the overhead console pulling from the front edge
... this is the front edge toward the windshield that was exposed when
the first front section in the prior picture was removed.
View attachment 47631 View attachment 47632

the main overhead console light pops off when you pull it down from the front edge
and as you can see there are 4 off those plastic pop in holders which they are white
on mine .... they are towards the 4 corners with 1 in each corner ..
when you are done wiring just line up the 4 holders and pop it back on.

    View attachment 47633
Now as you can see there is a qucik connect plug ... I squeezed the plug to
remove it and then I cut the black tape that was on the end of
the black wrapping that protected the bundle of wires leading into
    this plug.

I pulled back the black wire wrapper that protects the bundle of wires
and used the wire connectors to attach the positive paddle light lines
which was the Solid RED wire
the I used the Solid BLUE wire
was used for the ground .
these are the RED and BLUE wires that are on opposide ends of the overhead
    console lights wire plug in.

as you can see I joined the 2 ground wires from the left and right puddle
lights and attached them to the BLUE wire
and I attached the joined hot wires from the left and right puddle lights
    to the RED wire.

Good thing is if the switch setting on the light does not affect the puddle
lights at all. So if you turn the over head light off or fully on the puddle
lights outside will still go off after the regular abount of time delay.
Also if you push in the overhead lights to turn them on it has no
affect on the puddle lights .... so it works great.

From the hole in the overhead console I used a wire hanger with tape on the end
to avoid snags and fed it in the hole in the overhead area toward the doors and once
the clothes hanger wire end came through I taped the wires
from the puddle lights on the end of the hanger wire and pulled them
into the opening hole in the ceiling ... that was done on both sides
    5.jpg 4.jpg

My wire hanger looks stupid but it worked... I went straight over from the hole to the sides of the roof
... the hanger wire will come out where the rubber door trim is pulled down and out of the way.
and you have to use your fingers and reach them up and over
anything in the ceiling area that can block the hanger wire from coming
through the outer edge ....ie like overhead side airbags rolled up....

    5.jpg 4.jpg 3.jpg
Pull up the plastic on the bottom of the doorway and the plastic cover near your foot
Then pull the rubber doorway rubber trim away from the door frame
from along the bottom by your feet all the way up
to about the middle of the doorway at the top of the door ....
thats where I ran the puddle light wires inside the channel behind
where the rubber trim is located..
The doorway rubber trim pulls off and goes pretty easy.
    back on fairly easy...
    5.jpg 4.jpg 3.jpg 2.jpg
The sequence of info and pics are not the best but you should be able to figure it all out
    1. Pull the plastic on the lower door areas
    2. Pull the rubber door trim away to expose the opening channel where you
will run the puddle light wires
    3. Pull the plastic cover off at the front of the overhaed light console
    4. Pull the ovehead light console down
    5. Pull the wire plug from the console light
    6. Pull the black wrap away from the wires for the plug
    7. Use the Solid RED wire for the + on the puddle light and the Solid BLUE
for the - ... (these wires are at opposite ends of the plug)
    8. Use a wire hanger with tape on the end to protect from possible damage
and push it from the inside hole opening of the overhead console light
to the outer edge toward the door and tape the puddle light wires to the hanger
and pull the wires to the opening in the ceiling and attach the wires
    with quick connectors. ....
    9. Put it all back together and enjoy them.

Did the cutting today and only took less than 30 min to get to this point using a dremel - clone tool. Next thing to do is the fine tuning of the edges. I will be using a 600-1000 grit sandpaper to smoothen the edges out. Here's the picture of the mirror covers after using the dremel. I will list the tools needed with this mod if i get successful with it.

    Hi everyone,

This is my first post and this particular mod is my favorite.

I was wondering which site/seller do you guys recommend (i.e. Ebay/MIT Accessories) and if there is anyone in the Los Angeles/Riverside County that can help with the install.

    Thank you very much!

    Sincerely,
    BullSalv
