DIY JDM style side mirrors combo lights (Signal+Parking+Courtesy lights)

I installed the speed lock by pass and I learnt that the location or position of the pin on the connector is the same but the color is different. I did not take a look at the color of the turn/parking lights when they installed the mirror but earlier today while I was planning to install the DRL led, I opened the hood and the fuse cover and saw the label indicating the turn/parking lights. I looked behind the headlight unit to locate the power for the DRL and decided to get that from a tiny light on the top that always comes on when the power is on. It is pale green and its negative is white/black. Next I looked down behind the turning light and saw the yellow wire. Hope this help.

 

Did you find someone or install them yourself? I am also looking, though may resort to DIY

Just got my classic silver painted mirror covers in the mail. The paint looks good but the color is not a perfect match. It has a hint of blue to it but not enough to be very obvious so I am ok.

Will be installing this weekend so wish me luck!

Thanks to the knowledge gained from CivicSky, 32Kcolors, spiderman, and a host of other contributors on this thread my mirrors are installed and functioning great! Took me a lot longer than others to install but I am very happy with the end result. I tapped into the blue wire at A-pillar. While I had the pillar cover off I also routed my GPS charging cable to that corner so that too now has a permanent home!

I'm not into taking apart the dash and cutting wires so I am having my friend who works for a Porsche/Ferrari dealership do it for me. He's also trained on Toyotas and Acuras.

I put my new LED tails on Saturday and they look beautiful. I couldn't stand the rest of the non-LEDs on the exterior so I ordered a full kit for the license plate and parking lights.

Forgot to mention that if you tap into the blue wire on the A-pillar you will need to remember to turn the black clip (which you turned 90 degrees for cover to come off) back 90 degrees when you reinstall the cover. Otherwise that thing can blow in your face if airbag ever goes off.

Don't be. Just read this whole thread carefully as information is a bit spread out, and then take your time and don't rush it.

 

It's just a shame that the different versions/models/packages of Prii all have different wiring (within the same Generation span). I am terrified to begin mine, because the members with a Prius V have different wiring in different locations than someone with a 2 or 3, so their write-ups don't let someone with a II or III model see which wire they're supposed to be looking for, or where exactly it's located... Then some go thru 8 blue wires and still don't find the right blue one... I'd also like to do the SKS mod to add additional doors and the hatch to the touch-open-smartkey thing, but it looks even more potentially
terrifying! lol

If we had a good write-up/demo for the installation for each model, then it would be helpful to have a 'sticky thread' for JUST the II model and JUST the III model, etc., for this whole mirror installation thing, since the wiring seems to be different across the different packages. Going through 70 pages, trying to discern where the blue wire might be on a Model II or Model III, it is totally confusing and overwhelming to the normal driver whose electrical know-how and mod skills are a 1 on a scale of 1-10! lol! The thought of just doing the hit-and-miss thing for a wire is scary. Of course, I realize I'm just asking for the impossible, but it doesn't hurt to dream.....

 

my turn signals from mitaacessories finally arrived today. Gonna attempt to install them this weekend.

After reading all 70 pages of this thread, I just purchased my set from mitaccessories. Any news on a similar product coming to the PriusChat Store? It seems like there's a lot of interest and I would have preferred purchasing my set from here.

Anyways, in about a month I'll be searching for that elusive blue wire!
