The kit (ebay) comes with everything you need except the connectors. Small gauge wires is all that is necessary as these are LEDs. No problem so far with burn outs. The paint is holding up great. Relax. :)

So, enough wire comes with the kit to actually reach to the appropriate wiring location(s) to make the connections? And, a "related" question, since I will be (eventually, hopefully!!!) getting my folding mirrors INSTALLED that are still sitting in my bedroom, should I use/purchase a different wire gauge to handle the voltage/wattage/amperage/whatever-it's-called, since the wiring will be used for the signals, AND the folding mirror motor-related parts that will also be in the mirror, AND the blue running LED mirror glass that will be put in at the same time as the other 2 things?? I don't know the 1st thing about it, so don't know if the wiring that came (or didn't?) with the JDM style signal mirrors will be appropriate to juice up 3 different operations on the side mirrors. Then again, there's already power going up there for the electric mirror adjusting part, so maybe all these things just tap into THAT power.... ???? So, IF wire needs to be bought, what kind, and what length should I get? Thanks!

(well, back to the installation of my rear Valenti tail lights......which has been going on for hours....!!! I'm not that handy with small parts and small tools and such anymore, due to arthritis issues brought on by years of playing the piano professionally, so the tail light endeavor is taking a major commitment of my time this evening! But I will not be defeated!!! lol)

  4. How'd the tail light install go?

Do you want to know that I finished the driver's side light at 6:30 this morning, after wrestling with it all night? lol!! This is definitely NOT something to do who has almost no use of his thumbs! About to begin the passenger side now....

  6. Oh man. Take it easy and don't crack or scratch anything. :)

you know that's right! my hands and arms have sure seen better days from cutting and scraping them all up! And what the heck is up with all the grease under the weatherstrip on the back that you have to pull loose? I have never had so much grease on my arms and hands and under my fingernails. And now that it's light outside, I have gotten some on the carpet right inside the back of the car.... how do you get that out? I could barely even get it off my skin!

  8. LOL. I didn't anticipate that grease either. Let's just say I no longer have the t-shirt I wore that day. Luckily I didn't get any of it in my interior, but I'm sure a little Goof Off or Resolve will help.

A grease warning should be added to the write-up, for the benefit of future installers! Maybe if I hadn't been doing it at night, with shadows existing from the lights, then I would have seen it initially, and would have seen I had it on my arm or on my hands, and I wouldn't have been bumping into my carpet! lol

After reading this from my cell phone, let me get this straight.

CivicSky tried his best civic duty for PC to pester his Mom to ship these to us but Nigel from ClubLexus insisted he would handle it, but changed his mind?!

If we had deep pockets to purchase from Sigma, but everyone is now buying from the Ebay guy selling it for $134.50 plus $20 shipping because he only charges $20 for paint?

PRIUS 2010-2011 LED mirror cover turn light lamp WHITE -- color painted | eBay

Is the the same kit CivicSky bought? And can someone sum up briefly why Sigma charges more? Thanks for tolerating my newbness.

Nigel didn't change his mind. Danny banned him when he couldn't agree to Danny's terms as he wanted a cut of every sales Nigel gets and his GB price was too low to make it feasible. There were a lot of posts that were removed from this thread. Nigel's GB did happen outside of PriusChat though, with about 20 participants.

Correct, especially considering that the $20 paint seems to be holding up so far.

    FYI -
I had my mechanic friend look at the $20 paint.

He said the job looked good from a finish perspective but to him it appeared there was no primer used from the lack of primer over spray he saw on the inside.

So I bought a sheet of clear bra and will attempt to cover the hard hit areas to protect the paint a little better.

My other thought is that the paint they used is for plastic and requires no primer like a Krylon type.

    They do look go.

    my2cents.

Since I am picking up my Prius Plug-in from Carson Toyota in California. Can anyone recommend a good installer that they used for this project? I wouldn't mind purchasing the mirrors and having them installed while I am in California.

My body shop that's putting on my body kit said it looked like a good paint job, also.... But, I'm painting the stalk part of the mirror white, also, while they're painting everything, so we decided for them to just repaint the covers at the same time in case there was any slight color variation.

Does anyone know if it is possible and legal (in California) to make the parking light of this side mirror to DRL?

I bought the side mirror light and cover from ebay. Installed the unit but not wired. I read/scanned this thread but I am still confused what is the easiest way to tap the puddle light wires.

Is it on the dome light, door sill installation, near the ecu, pillar?
Where should I connect the black wire (driver side, signal/parking light)?
Do you think it is easier just to run the passenger wires to the driver side?
If it legal to use DRL for side mirror light, where should I tap the wires?

    Thanks!:)
