Hey everyone, I am so glad I found this forum. Won't even receive the two cars I ordered from Toyota of Escondido for months, but because of the great posts here I will be ordering my Platinum Warranty and Prepaid Service contract from PriusChat.com. Thanks everyone!

You can cancel your present extended warranty and get a pro rated refund.

Troy can sell you all Toyota extended warranty plans which are offered for any Toyota or Lexus year or model.

You can always buy the extended warranty as long as your original warranty has not yet expired.

Only the Platinum version is available for the Prius. You can chose between a $0 deductible and a $50 deductible; however, the difference in cost is only $50, so you are even if you use it only once and ahead if you use it twice or more if you buy the plan with no deductible.

Yes, whoever sold you the car took advantage of you.

Now that I've dumped the plan the dealership sold me. How do I purchase the one offered by Toyota through PriusChat?

Hello all....I am brand new here and came across this very awesome thread here.....my question is this.....I live in Florida and in the state of Florida insurance is governed meaning the dealer cannot sell the warranty for anything less or more than all the other dealers....for instance...if there warranty for my Prius is going to cost 1655....all the other dealers in Florida sell it for the same exact amount....because they have to per the sate of Florida....now to my question....Am I able to purchase this warranty for the amount that is posted here even though I live in Florida??? Thanks for your assistance in this question...

I don't know what the Florida laws say about it, but there is no reason you shouldn't be able to buy this one. If I moved to Florida with my Prius and Warranty it should be honored there just the same as here in MO. It is the exact same contract and they'd have to honor it...I think.

Thats what I am curious about.....because I am being told by the Toyota dealership that it is not possible....thats why I am curious....thanks

Oh, of course. Florida can't impose it's laws on outside states.

Dr. Fusco is correct. This topic has come up many times in my private emails. The Florida state law governing the service contract pricing does not apply when the plan is purchased from an out of state dealer. I have sold numerous plans to Florida residents without any problems.

I picked up my car last night and everything went well till the money person basically told me the same thing. He was offering me the Gold
warranty and I said that I could purchase the Platinum for $985.00.
He told me that I need to be careful because of that Florida law.
He said no problem anywhere else in the South just Florida. But again it shouldn't matter where I purchase it. It's the same Toyota product found anywhere else in the country.

Congrats on picking up your Prius....you must be excited!!!!!! The money guy told me the same thing as you....I did not purchase the warranty at that time because I am one to do a bit of research before I purchase something.....

Actually, I don't believe so. Florida is part of the Southeast region, and the Southeast and Gulf states distributorship agreements prevent the dealers in those regions from offering the actual Toyota Financial products, the plans from the states in those regions are administered by Fidelity, not Toyota. Although, other than that, they are very similar in coverages and even have the same plan names...i.e. Gold and Platinum.

This is why when you look at the Toyota Financial website it lists those states as "not available", but that simply means not available for purchase from dealers in those states, you are still free to purchase the plans from outside that region, and there are no problems in coverage.

That certainly clears up a question that I've seen quite often in the warranty requests to PriusChat..

I would like to add my 2 cents. We should not be using Troy as a bargaining point to get a warranty cheaper when buying a new Prius. If it was for Troy making this good deal available to us we would all be paying alot more for our warranties. I think when someone tries to selll you a warranty we should just say"no thanks" and pick up the warranty from Troy. This is just my opionion

I agree fully if Troy is offering this bargain, the least we can do is take him up on it and not use him as a leverage to get a better deal out of the dealer we are purchasing the car from
