I have tried to access warrantyshack.com several times but cannot get the site to load. I did email Troy directly. I am not sure if I am eligible for purchasing via warrantyshack.com -- I just bought a used 2010 Prius with around 45K miles on it. The original 3 year/36,000 warranty was expired. What other warranty options are available to me? I got talked into purchasing a full 3 year/36,000 mile warranty at the dealer because the car was under 50K miles, but I still have 1-2 days to think it over and cancel -- leaning towards cancelling. This is the first time I've purchased a car at a dealership and I wasn't prepared for the 'back room' sell of the warranties by the finance manager.

Any tips or help making the decision? I'm concerned that I just lined Toyota's pockets a bit more. Dealer sold me by saying that labor costs alone on a hybrid cost $400+ per hour. I live in the Seattle, WA area.

Wow. I feel like I've found a huge club that I never knew existed until today. Yesterday I bought my first new car in 16 years (Prius c I love it) and was blindsided by the finance dept's pitch on Platinum extended warranty-7 yr/100 K mile no deduct. It being a hybrid, unknown (for me) repair costs, etc- I made a bad decision and bought it for $2300. I've felt terrible ever since (it was 10% of purchase price, not to mention increased car payment). I am so happy to learn 1. I can cancel within 30 days for full refund and 2. there is a more reasonably priced alternative. I've emailed Troy since the warranty website does appear to be down. I'm really hoping this offer still exists!! But in any case, I'm going to cancel with the dealer. Thanks for all the posts here- it really does help to read about other people's experiences.

Same problem. Is the site going to be fixed or has it been/will it be moved to a new working location?

I don't know....WarrantyShack was something that was set up by PriusChat, I've emailed Danny a couple of times asking about it but haven't heard anything back from him. So for now, just email me at [email protected].

Interested. Just bought a 2012 Prius Three. Did not buy dealer extended warranty. "Only $35 a month!" Yeah, no thanks!
I may like to buy one, but not right away since I just dropped so much $$ on the car!

I just bought a Prius in So California 1 week ago and was duped into purchasing over-priced (even over Toyota Web MSRP) extended warranty and service contracts. I want to cancel them and buy here but not sure be able to do so because remeber there is a clause on "Retail installment sale contract" states that any change to the contract must be in writing and both buyer and seller must sign it. The Toyota dealer finance dept guy specifically memtioned this clause during signing. But this contract look like a generic form, not a customized print form by this particular dealer because dealer has to fill in its name and address, not preprinted. Mine is financed via TFS. CA car purchase has no cooling off period n can't be call off. But these extended contracts are optional service contacts. Do I have right to cancel these options within 30 days? Pls advise.

I believe they're just referring to there not being a "cooling off period" in regards to the vehicle purchase. So they are letting you know that you can't change your mind and bring the car back the next day.

You can cancel any Toyota Financial product (Warranty, Maintenance, GAP, or Lease Excess Wear/Tear) within 30 days of purchase either through the issuing dealer, or by contacting Toyota Financial Services directly at 800-228-8559.

If at some point you'd like information and/or quotes to re-purchase new plans, just shoot me an email to the address in my signature.

It seems warrantyshack.com has been down for many days.
How to get the extended warranty and prepaid maintenance plan?

    Thanks
