Dealer finally called back said they will cut me a check for the warranty refund soon as I can come in and do the paper work. Everything will now work out. Thanks for the help.

To cancel my GAP and Maintenance contract all I had to do was call Toyota Finance, fax them a written request, and they promptly cancelled them.

Last week I bought a certified 2010 Prius IV and got the Toyota Certified Platinum Plan. Today I was looking for all weather floor mats and discovered this Forum. I contacted Troy and saved $780 by cancelling my previous plan and getting it from him. I guess now I can afford the all weather mats and cargo liner.

Troy, a guy here at work is in the process of buying a 2012 Prius. They have quoted him 2199.00 for the five year, 100K/50.00 deduct. When we bought our 2008, they hit us with some ridiculous price and we told them we could buy it from you for like 985.00, and they did match it. Do you sell the warranty for the new Prius, and if so what is the price, and deductible? I think ours was the extra care or whatever the best one was.
    Thanks,

    John

I almost never buy any extended warranty, but did buy one with my 2012 Prius this year. It's a 7yr/60k/$100/$50. I paid $671.00. The dealer wasn't too pushy but noted that it was a heavy discount. I'm not too crazy about the deductible part but still within the 60 day deadline for cancelling and getting a full refund. I'd love to hear what others have to say about this.

I apologize for not responding on this thread sooner, for some reason I just now received an email notification that there were posts here....a week late.

Yes, I can sell the Toyota Extra Care plans on any of the new Prius models. For a price quote, please fill out the WarrantyShack form from the first post in this thread, or you can email me at the email addresss in my signature.

And mrcando...Toyota doesn't offer a 7 yr / 60K plan, so if that's the term of your contract, it's can't be a genuine Toyota policy.

Toyota covers 100% of the parts and labor to repair/replace any covered component that fails within the terms of the agreement. Diagnostic fees are not specifically covered...since in order for a dealer to file a claim, there has to be a covered component which has failed in some way.

On the Toyota web site the Platinum warranty is 8 years or 125,000 miles and not 7 years. So which warranty does Prius has for $985? If 8 years where can I purchase one.?

$985.00 is a very old price (from around 2005) for a 7 yr / 100,000 mile plan. Updated info and a link to the WarrantyShack website for price quotes is located in the very first post of this thread.

8 years & 125,000 miles are the maximum terms in years & mileage, but there are many different combinations so that you can tailor the policy to your driving. If you click on the pricing comparision tab on the Toyota Financial website they list all the combinations that are available.

    Hi all,
I'm a new Prius owner, and I overpaid (by an embarrassing amount) for the extended warranty, and I'm strongly considering cancelling the plans I bought through the dealer and going with this deal.

However, I have a few questions. My apologies if they were answered elsewhere in the 150 pages of this thread, I have been reading it but gave up around page 75, and a search didn't return what I was looking for.

Troy, thanks for the quick response, by the way. I just have to get all my dollars in a row before I pull the trigger. :)

    My questions are:
    1) Do I have to go through the dealer to cancel this, or can I go straight to Toyota Financial? There have already been a lot of paperwork snafus with them and I'm just leery of introducing another one to the mix.

    2) And how difficult is it to cancel? I'm trying to get a refund for the extended warranty on the Mazda CX7 I traded and Mazda is not making it easy, even though the (gas guzzling) machine had less than 33k miles on it when I traded.

    2) Won't Toyota Financial have a problem with canceling my warranty and then, a few weeks later, issuing a new one?

    3) Has anyone here had occasion to actually use the Warranty they bought from Troy? I'm concerned that if I needed to take it to a local dealer (not the one I bought the car from), they'd give me some hassle about it not being an actual ToyotaCare plan (or not the type of ToyotaCare they honor) or not being honored because it was purchased from Massachusetts. No offense, Troy, just looking for potential pitfalls.

You can contact Toyota Financial directly at 800-228-8559.

It's pretty easy. TFS will provide you with instructions and a fax number to send the cancellation request.

No. I run into people in your same situation at least a few times a month. It's not a problem at all.

Sounds like your looking for a reply from someone other than me for this question....but if it helps, the policy is issued and mailed to you directly from TFS no matter which dealer you purchase it from. When the servicing dealer looks up the policy by your VIN, it doesn't tell them which dealer sold the policy becuase it's irrelevant. The computer just displays the policy number and coverage information.

Thanks again Troy, for the quick response to all my questions. It's obvious you have a great reputation for a good reason.

Yes, I used the extended warranty I bought from Troy, and it paid for itself in the first use: had to replace the MFD ($1800 used part price, not including labor).

Troy, I'll be buying a Prius V model 5 base package in the next couple of months. Can I wait to buy the extended warranty, and if I bought one now-about how much would you charge?(shortest time frame-3 ys?, 100k extension if available).

Sure, you're eligible as long as you are within the original 3 yr / 36,000 mile factory warranty...and Toyota typically comes out with new pricing in the fall, so we should be safe at the current pricing at least through the summer. For a quote, please fill out the form at the WarrantyShack site from the link in the very first post of this thread (or email me at the address in my signature.)

    Thanks!

What is the current pricing for the 5yr/75k maintenance and the 6yr/100k warranty? I ask because the first post still indicates that it is referring to 2011 pricing, and I have not heard back from warrantyshack yet.

I just got myself a new Prius, and after several hours in the finance manager's office, he sold me my packages for roughly 1700 and 2000 respectively. Needless to say, I would like that money back as soon as possible! :)

P.S. No worries. I know not to mention that the superior deal comes from these forums/anyone affiliated with them. I'll say that I got the quotes from another dealership I was asked on my honor not to name. ;)

I got an extended warranty when I bought my 2010 Certified Prius for $1795. I the joined this forum and found Troy and paid $1215. After I got both policies I checked them against each other. The only difference in policies is that I don't get road side service for 100,000 miles. I called Toyota Financial on Froday to cancel my original policy and the check arrived today. Troy savedme a bundle.

    Hi Danny,
I am a new member of the PC forum & just saw this post for a discounted extended warranty /service. Is this price still good for 2012? Would I purchase this contract through my Dealer or through PC Forum or On-Line through Toyota Care? Please advise, thank you Jim M

Thanks again Troy. I sent you an email. One more quick question (and my apologies again if you've already answered it: must I cancel within 30 days of purchase?

I ask because by Monday it will have been 30 days since I purchased the vehicle, but there are still issues I'm trying to work out with the dealership I unfortunately chose to do business with. I don't want to raise any more hackles until those things are settled, if possible.
