I just wanted to take a minute and say Thank You! especially to paprius4030 and the posters of the previous few posts. And as well as everyone that has purchased a plan through PriusChat over the last few months.

One more thing to keep in mind, part of the proceeds from every plan that is purchased from a referral from Priuschat, goes to Priuschat to help Danny afford to keep this site up and running and to be the great source of information that it is. So even if your local dealer does match the price, if purchased here, you are benefitting others as well as yourselves by helping to make this site one the best of its kind!

Re: Toyota Service Contracts / Extended Warranty - Discounte

I would like to make it perfectly clear that I was not using the PriusChat offer as a bargining chip for making my deal. After reading all the complaints of being ripped by the dealers I know that this will be the best price I would be able to find. Knowing that it helps Danny out makes it even better. I was never even offered a Platinum package only Gold.
Then the Florida law question came up and I was wondering if I was going to have a problem even using it here in Florida. Now that the question has been answered I'll be getting it here. Got to wait for the bonus check though.

I'll try to keep this short since it seems to replicate so much of the sentiments already posted here.

Just got our Prius yesterday. Paid s41440 for 6yr/100k plat plan. After haggling and getting the "$500 Toyota instant rebate" (does this even exist ?).

Needless to say I am cancelling the plan the minute the dealer opens today.

Thanks Danny and Troy you've got my business.

The "Instant Rebate" is more lip-service from your dealer - glad you've decided to get it through PriusChat!

Add another satisfied customer to the list. Troy sold me for the 7/100k/0 warranty and the 4/55k platinum pre-paid maintainance. Prior to buying from Troy I called the local dealer to hear, " My book says cost is $1650 for the 7/100k plan so add a few hundred and that is your cost". It wasn't a hard decision. I ordered Friday and got my materials Monday. The pre-paid service plan is money in the bank in an expensive area like mine. I couldn't be happier.

Re: Toyota Service Contracts / Extended Warranty - Discounte

In researching the details of Extended Service Contracts that Danny has negotiated for us, I came across a major concern.

The Toyota Financial Services website, Protect Your Vehicle page (http://www.toyotafinancial.com/pyv/find_vehicle_protection/recommendation.jsp) indicates that Toyota's vehicle protection programs are NOT available in 12 states, including Mississippi. Does this include Danny's Extended Service Contract?

In other words, is this contract not available to me because I am a resident of MS? Or can I get the contract because it is written and administered in a state other than MS?

Thanks, Hank

(I apologize if this question has already been covered, but I tried to read all 10 pages of posts and didn't see it.)

Not suprised you didn't see it since this thread has gotten rather lengthy, I briefly covered the subject on the last page.....

Quote - ".......the Southeast and Gulf states distributorship agreements prevent the dealers in those regions from offering the actual Toyota Financial products, the plans from the states in those regions are administered by Fidelity, not Toyota. Although, other than that, they are very similar in coverages and even have the same plan names...i.e. Gold and Platinum.

This is why when you look at the Toyota Financial website it lists those states as "not available", but that simply means not available for purchase from dealers in those states, you are still free to purchase the plans from outside that region, and there are no problems in coverage
."

Although since posting that, I realized that there was a person from FL that was offered a Gold plan on a Prius, so there must be other differences as well. Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to read one of the Fidelity contracts and so can't tell you what the differences are.

Re: Toyota Service Contracts / Extended Warranty - Discounte

Troy, thanks for your response.

If I understand you correctly, the Extended Services Contract negotiated by Danny is underwritten by a company other than Toyota. If so, this raises the next question...

Is this Extended Services Contract recognized and accepted by Toyota? In other words, if I have a covered repair performed at a Toyota dealership, does the dealer file the claim, or must I pay the dealer for the repair and then file the claim myself? Also, with whom do I discuss administrative issues, the local dealer or a customer service rep at an "800" number?

Thanks, Hank

No you have it backwards....Gulf States and Southeast dealers service contracts are the ones that are not underwritten by Toyota.

The plans Danny and I are offering here are the factory backed plans administered by Toyota Financial Services. Which are the same ones as offered in pretty much all the rest of the country with exception of those two regions and Hawaii.

Claims are paid directly by Toyota Financial to the dealers. And of course there is an 800 number for Toyota if you needed to discuss any administrative issues. Its (800) 228-8559....feel free to call them if you have any questions, even if its before purchasing a policy.

Oh OK.....as long as I can buy and be covered by the Platinum contract within the State of Mississippi. 8)

Please excuse my concern.....Mississippi has some real squirrely insurance regulations that very few people, except the insurance lobbyists and the State Commissioner ( ), understand.

Thanks again, Hank

Hi Troy,
I appreciate your responding to my questions. I read an earlier post in this Topic that when a Contract was sold through Prius Chat, Danny and Prius Chat received a percentage of the premium as a donation. Would this donation occur if I were to purchase the Extended Services Contract through you at Greenfield, or only if I used the link in Prius Chat?

Thanks, Hank

Hank, I posted my reply to this in my email to you as well, but I thought I should also post it here for others to read.

I simply need to know in one way or another that you are a referal from Priuschat. That happens automatically whenever I receive an email that is forwarded from [email protected] since I have a written record I can refer back to when the sale is completed. This would be the preferred method of contact, so that Danny can also keep track of the emails that way. If for some reason you contact me directly, just let me know that you were referred by Priuschat at the time we complete the sale so that I can make sure that Priuschat gets the credit.

I know that ten pages of feedback is probably enough, but I just want to add my appreciation of Troy and his willingness to answer all the questions about the warranty Greenfield Toyota offers. As it turns out, I will save even more by going to the 7 year 75K mile plan since I do not expect to get to 100K miles by then. Troy was good enough to offer that option, and I saved another few hundred bucks over what was already a great deal. I highly recommend dealing with Troy for your extended warranty!

I totally agree. However as Troy asked just a few posts above, please use the link that Danny has provided so that Prius Chat and Danny get credit and the donation. Also as Troy said, it cuts down on bookkeeping and confusion. 8)

This is an unsolicited and unpaid recommendation..... :D :D

I had the most horrid experience with the finance guy. He offered me the platinum for 6/100k/$0 for $2000. When I informed him that I was not willing to pay that price and he would have to be competitive with Troy. It got so bad that after the car was bought... the finance guy wouldn't even shake my hand. Very rude not even considering that the car was paid in full.

On a side note, one thing the finance guy said caught my attention. He stated that the plan offered by Troy only differed from his plan in that at 6 years, you get a full refund if you don't use it while at 7 years, you don't get a refund but prorated for unused time. Is this true?

Re: Toyota Service Contracts / Extended Warranty - Discounte

Dealers that are offering a refund if the policy is unused, are selling you an additional insurance plan (not through Toyota) which carries an additonal premium and they are simply bundling it together with the service contract. This is not something I offer or recommend.

Toyota plans are refunded pro-rated, based on the time/mileage remaining if they are cancelled for any reason, as you mentioned. Plus, you can get the refund even if the policy has already had claims against it.

As of 12/2/04, Sunnyvale Toyota (CA) charges $1,499 for Extended Warranty (7 years). I hope to find coverage for less through PriusChat!

I've purchased the extended warranty via the PriusChat process and want to let everyone know how helpful Troy Dietrich of Greenfield, Toyota was. The PriusChat discount was honored and all of my questions were answered.
