    It dims but seems to do so a bit too quickly. I don't really have a basis for comparison though. I didn't notice the dimming before so perhaps my previous LED bulb wasn't dimmable at all. I don't remember how the incandescent dimmed because I replaced it soon after getting the car.

    Got my LEDs. First, 42mm 2 Watts does not fit in the cargo housing. :angry: I am going to do some modification to get it in. I want more light in the cargo damn it!
    [attachmentid=7194]

    31mm would fit but the problem is that... as you turn on the switch on and off (the arm rocks), the LED would rotate little by little. I do not recommend these LED in the cargo.
    [attachmentid=7193]

    31mm LED in the rear dome fits fine.
    [attachmentid=7197]

    For the Door Courtesy lights, the 1 Watt Flank version fits perfectly.

    [attachmentid=7199]

    I manually balanced the white indoor and took the rest of the pics under low light condition with ISO 400. Enjoy!

    Once again, GREAT pics! Thank you so much! That 1W 31mm looks like the right bulb for the dome and vanities, and the flank firing 168s in the doors are super!

    So here's a subjective question, is the quality of the LED light pleasing? Is it bright and neutral white? Does it make your skin look like you are the living dead? Is the light harsh? Does it make skin blems glow?

    Once you figure a way to get that 41mm 2W into the rinky-dink cargo light, I hope you'll take a picture of that too. I agree with you, the cargo area is dim at best. The phrase inky shadows comes to mind.

    I received my lights for the front dome and what I hoped was for the cargo light after ordering them on the3/21/07.

    I agree Bill, inky shadows is a good descriptor of the cargo area, but I also found that the 31mm doesn't work in the cargo area. So I ended up putting it in the rear dome as well. It still seems a little big in the rear dome, but I don't think it will get jarred loose. I really wanted more light back there, but ah well.

    All in all definitely brighter than the original ones. I could tell a huge difference in the front dome area. More of a bright white than the yellowish color and initially liked the color of the light. I couldn't play around with them too much tonight though, I had a weird headache after watching an IMAX movie and couldn't hand them for that long. Once the headache is gone, I am pretty sure it will not a weird light at all (judging from my initial reaction).

    I can post some pics if people would like, although I think usbseawolf has already taken all of the ones I would take.

    Is there a way to configure the camera such that it won't portray the LEDs as bluish white?

    Why? That slight bluish white is the actual color. After adjusting the white, I took those last set of pics. I tried to include other lights for comparison purpose.

    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Bill Merchant @ Mar 30 2007, 04:46 AM) [snapback]414756[/snapback]</div>
    It is not neutral white... more like xenon white with a little blue tint. I like it because of the cooler color. You could take it as "the living dead" since it creates the freezer feel to it.

    After I mod the cargo light with 2 Watts, I'll post an update.

    Thanks for the update and the future update on the 2W cargo lamp. I ordered and decided to get the 1W for the cargo area. I know it's got a funky wiggle because of the switch, but I figured the LED won't put out that much heat so I'll put a little soft foam behind it to keep it oriented.

    Ohh.... I thought it was blue b/c of the camera. Didn't know that was the true colour.

    not too bad. It's in line with the Lexus LED spotlights/maplights on their 07 models (ES, IS, GS, LS)

    I'd agree on the description. It does have a slight blue tint, although definitely more white than blue overall.

    I think Bill asked about the look of the lights as well After my headache cleared I really liked the lights and find them to be pleasing. The wife has commented on how much different the color is compared to the stock yellow lights. I am not sure she is as found as the white color, although the increased brightness will win her over in time. I haven't noticed any weird effects of the light on how the skin looks, seems to be sort of like going from an incandescent to fluorescent bulb.

    BTW, I have an extra bulb that I put in the center of the front dome dimming. It is this one. I could keep it as a spare I guess, although hopefully I will loose it long before it needs replacing. Therefore I wouldn't be object to sending it to someone at the cost I bought it. (I am assuming shipping would be very little for a very light package).

    some results: all the interior lights work quite well, and the blue hue they give off is very cool! as for the fogs, turns out that they would work much better if the leds were oriented radially. I had assumed that the plastic bulb cover in the center of the fog light was mirrored on the inside and would reflect the light back out to the outer reflector. this is not the case. anyway, if we can find some HB4/9006 bulbs with the LEDs oriented outward, it would work perfectly. The LED is very much brighter than the regular bulb. I'll take some pics of it hanging out of the bottom for comparison.... tonight

    by radially you mean to the side right? So, sorta like those for the door courtesy lights?

    ahh ok. I wonder if that'll be legal.

    The thing is, our stock bulbs are ridiculously hot (try driving them in the rain then stop somewhere, sheltered of course, then look closely at the foglights. You'll see smoking coming off off them)

    I don't see how it would be illegal. especially since they are able to be switched off for oncoming traffic. (oh, and hot water creates steam... :lol: )

    yesyes but you weren't around when we had a wave of PCers with cracked foglight lens because of the temperature difference.

    I think you want what is called a refractor bulb, jgills240. Here are some PIAA LED fogs at $89+$11.50 shipping.

    The question now is how long will those last and how much heat do they produce.

    Not much heat, they're LEDs. How long they last is a guess. PIAA is a reputable manufacturer. The seller doesn't mention a warranty.

    hmm, looks like it might be reasonable. the questionable part to me is "turn high beams into city lights." not really sure what that means, but it seems like it means not so bright??
