I bought for lots of reasons, thought mostly for advantages it offered me. Being a hatchback, and offering more space and economy than other cars I looked at were derinite pluses. But the biggest thing was the great price and rebate offered and the knowledge that the prices would surely spike was an added benefeit.

I bought it because it was the ultimate option for fuel economy. I was driving my Hemi-Durango on my short commute to work, and the wife was driving the Pontiac Vibe (30 mpg). We swapped due to some health issues. The fuel bill for running the kids to all the activities, orthodontia, etc. was running over $450 / month - before gas prices went up! One day I snapped. I bought her a Prius and I got a CRZ and the gas savings are more than covering the payments. I would have considered a Leaf or a Volt if they had been available. We did keep the "Hemi" because it is worthless in trade, is occasionally required in the mountain winters, and it makes a nice pickup truck. Even though I bought on economics, I AM (mostly) green - I am leading the Green IT initiative for a $15 billion company. :)
