    Re: Weekend Update

Most excellent paper towels, those quicker picker uppers!

I keep feeling as though I ought to be buying another PiP just because they're available. I already have the greatest PiP ever! Must be that consumerism thing - if it's there, I gotta have it! Oh well...but I did pass along the info on available PiPs to a SoCal friend who really wanted one, but he waited too long and missed out. So you are likely gonna be selling one to my friend.

So I finally picked up my new PiP from Carson Toyota (I actually signed the papers on Friday of last week but had aftermarket leather installed - which turned out great). Overall it was a great experience with Dianne & Nathan at Carson Toyota. Both of them worked very hard answering the many questions I had and got my car delivered as quickly as possible. It was definitely an enjoyable experience.

However, I must bring up just one small issue I had. The finance guy (I don't recall his name) kinda gave me the hard sell on some "extras" that I originally declined when Nathan offered the same stuff (at dealer cost). These "extras" included LoJack, an extended warranty plan, and upgraded Toyota Care. Although he fiddled around with my finance rate to make the payments fall within my range, these "extras" also added over $4,000 to the overall price of the car. Long story short, I ended up with just the extended warranty (7-years, 125,000 miles) which he said was $2,400 but I talked him down to $2,200. Then on a hunch that something was fishy, I checked Nathan's price sheet to find out that the dealer cost was only $1,920. Fortunately when I pointed this out to Nathan when I picked up my car, he corrected it and refunded me the difference without any problems. The lesson learned was, when getting "extras" on your car ALWAYS go through either Dianne or Nathan. They'll give you the best price that the dealership can offer, period.

Both my sister and I have bought cars from Dianne & Nathan within the last 2 months, and both of us had a wonderful experience dealing with them. I would highly recommend Carson Toyota to anyone of my friends, and when it comes time to buy my next Toyota, I will certainly be paying Dianne & Nathan a visit. Kuddos for a job well done.

… I think Nathan had already sold you that Warranty. Your F&I guy was just there to make sure you didn't leave the store without it. That's their job!

No, Nathan asked if I wanted the extended warranty when I was up in his office. He even went as far as showing me the dealer prices since that was the price offered to all PriusChat members, but I originally declined. Then when I got down to the financing guy, he upsold me on all the extras, including the extended warranty (which was fine since after thinking about it for a while, I realized that having an extended warranty on relatively new tech might not be a bad idea), but ultimately the finance guy overcharged me for it. He even told me that original $2,400 was at dealer cost, which clearly it wasn't. Not really that big of a deal since Nathan fixed it without problem. I was only trying to give a heads-up to other PriusChat members going to Carson Toyota to only go off of the dealer cost sheet when buying an extended warranty.

OK - a more comprehensive thread.

    Car here awaiting pickup! #2755.

Cars coming to the PORT this week (today)
    3930, 3550, 2996 :)D:D:D - which is MINE now!), 3937, 3749, 2869, 1003, 3659.

    OK!

    No more cars languishing!
    LOL!!

Cars in "freight" and arriving soon, possibly as soon as Monday!
    3930, 3550, 3937, 3749, 2869, 1003, 3659.

(Order 1003 is not actually late. We leapfrogged a few orders around for someone in very dire straights.)

My own car's still at PORT. I think it's delayed while they add some pretty extra things for me. :D There are also a few other cars at PORT as well... and I will list them here when they shift to "ready for delivery" too!

    Update!

    Arrivals are:
    3550, 3937, 3749, 2869, 1003, 3659.

My own personal car is still at PORT (grr) and I sure hope to have it soon! That's OK - the longer it takes to get here, the less I have to finance! :p

Congratulations, Dianne! I'm very pleased with the job your leather guys did, and to me the Homelink mirror is a must have item. I'm guessing Toyota might come around on some of the options they left off the base trim model, and include the mirror for next year. Enjoy your new ride, especially when you get the coveted HOV sticker!

Dianne, is the homelink mirror something you guys at Carson sell and install? I might be interested in that.

What extra things did you order? Any thing beyond what was available to us from the order page?

    Yes.
A small blender and a mini fridge to keep the margaritas cold. ;)

    No seriously.
I ordered the lower strip molding, the chrome-look ones, and the illuminated door sills, door edge guards, and the rear bumper applique... and mats! You couldn't get the light-up door sills till about 10 days ago. My MSRP was $33,661.
Next, I'm adding two tone leather and the Homelink mirror... and I'm good!
