Dealer required maintenance concern

    Thanks for the assistance.
    There are no less than 13 dealerships in the Portland area. I'm not going to name the dealer as that would be unfair to them. I will personally touch base with their management and advise them of the incident and my concerns.

    Shady places deserved to be ratted out, they don't really have a business being the car fixing business. Keep the honest ones alive.

    Don't be too quick to go nuclear. @J Humes has said that he's been going to that dealer for years and they always treated him well. This was a different service writer. Give the upper management a chance to make it right. The honest people in the shop will appreciate it. If they refuse to correct the situation, then name names.

    Jerry the OP may have already signed out of this thread, but I will throw in my comments hopefully to benefit someone in the future.
    While I still had my 2010 I did the following around the miles suggested in the maintenance schedule. I was a mechanic for 16 years and still have a shop at the house with a lift so my maintenance tasks are easy.
    I replace transmission fluid every 60K miles, this is more than recommended but my choice.
    I replaced coolant for engine and inverter at 120K mile intervals.
    I never cleaned my inverter fan. I don't carry passengers or animals. A visual inspection showed it all clean.
    Throttle body cleaning is a joke IMHO.

    If I had to depend on someone to maintain my Prius I would prefer to find someone that specializes in these and knows their weaknesses. Based on past experience I suggest the most important maintenance is removal of the intake manifold and EGR cooler for cleaning. I sound like a broken record but I sold my 2010 with 270K miles, still running great. I love the 2018 Prime I have now, but miss the 2010 at times.

    PDX is our airport code. The government didn’t tell anybody whether to use it or not, except for pilots who need to know whether they’re flying to Portland Maine or Oregon.

    I’ve been trying — with ThreeJ — to schedule a maintenance MeetUp at my place in Beaverton.

    In my opinion, there’s plenty of maintenance to do on a 100K mile Prius. I don’t think this advisor was necessarily out of line. At 100K, both coolants should be changed, and it’s definitely not a bad idea to clean the throttle body and cooling fan. The cooling fan cleaning can be expensive, and I’d do it if you have pets that ride in the car, but otherwise, probably not.

    Let’s see if you can come by, maybe in February
