I believe the car needs to run a Good 30 minutes to charge that 12v back up. Take a long drive.

30 minutes may not be enough.

Patrick Wong at 2005 Prius beeps when door is open, then won't start | PriusChat suggested leaving it in READY mode for 8 hours.

That's probably about right. IIRC, the 12 volt's battery capacity is 36 amp-hours. I believe Prius' charging rate is limited to 4 amps, so 8 hours * 4 amps is almost 36... It doesn't matter if one drives it or leaves it in park while in READY mode. It won't change the 12 volt battery charge rate.

Unfortunately they often do. Ask a question, get a response and disappear.

When we bought I believe our car had been sitting on the lot for considerable time. The 12 volt was dead right from the outset, and the dealership replaced it during dealer prep. If you haven't left an interior light on, there's decent odds that's your situation. See if you can find out how long it was on the lot?

OP is a new car owner (first in 11 years) and busy mom as well - sorry I didn't follow up sooner. I appreciate all the input from the group and it has helped me. Thanks.
