Daytime Running Lights - Hack Available?

No option for EU yet. I was today at the dealer for something else and asked about it and he is not aware of anything yet.
Moreover if I leave the headlights on when I turn off the car, the lights will NOT go off (parking lights at least) and a chime will remind you that you did not turn off the lights.
If I am not wrong, DRL will be compulsory in EU on new vehicles starting in 2012. The Auris Hybrid, due mid-Sept in Germany, will have LED DRL standard.

You're right about 2012, you're right about the Auris hybrid (seen one at the dealers last week). You're also right about the chime if you leave the headlights on. Apparantly the US and European versions differ on this. The US one does switch the headlights off as they describe. Ours don't as I believe it is compulsory in some European countries (am sure it's Germany) to leave your parking lights on when leaving your vehicle parked on main roads at night. Here in the UK we just take our chances
