correct. trucks are where the profits are. making a lot of vehicles that no one wants, no matter how nice they may be, is poor forecasting, and leads to lower profits.

This all plays into how deeply a manufacturer would be willing to discount their PHEV/BEV products. Ford and GM have very large sale percentages in high profit margin trucks/SUVs. Toyota has presence here but it is fairly weak. They have the RAV4, Highlander, and Tacoma but at significantly less sales volume percentages. Hyundai has...crickets...

So Ford and GM can theoretically sell their PHEVs and BEVs at a heavy loss in the US indefinitely (provided no prolonged gasoline price spikes or newly adverse environmental regulatory hurdles). Toyota has significantly less room to work with. Hyundai...

Even the cars from canada have us content and get counted under nafta.

With Corolla move to Mexico, Toyota plans big for Canadian factories - The Globe and Mail
corola's for north america were made in canada and japan after nummi shut down. Then toyota swiched the missippi plant from the prius to the corrola and finished it. Since then most corolas for north america were made in missippi. Toyota is opening a new plant in mexico, and toyota canada will no longer make the corrola, production will be shared between mississippi and mexico.

Rav 4 and lexus RX are made in that canadian plant. Perhaps other cars will be procuced there after the corola is gone.

Sorry for the screw-up on my part. Jeff Cobb's team had it right but my spreadsheet needed one more step.

    Nice start for the Niro.

I believe the Clarity is just the FCEV at this point. A BEV and PHEV are suppose to follow.
