When I was asked about how fast a Prius would go, my replay was fast enough get the attention of the guy with the blue lights.
Well as for the subject on laws and driving under the influence, but focused on intoxication I was neither. Speeding or seeing how fast your car will go in a safe area where lifes are not put at risk and being intoxicated was very well applied and thought of. I dont drink and drive and i dont randomly need the speed because i want to. With no thought. Enforcement on both is enforced here in the US as well. We all are not wreckless wrecks. On my way back from Wyoming back to California. I topped my 2013 prius at 118 MPH while going downhill and getting 100MPG. Felt a little unstable at that speed, but stable at 100MPH.
We got our 2010 up to around 100MPH while on a relatively long downhill area near Flaming Gorge recreation area. Perfect conditions to do so...NO other cars around and a wide open vista where we could see for miles ahead. Not something I would normally recommend or do though but the car handled it great.
If the car feels unstable at top speed you need to get it checked out. Something is wrong somewhere...
2007 Touring with 280,### miles will still do 103mph up a slight grade. (3 lanes, divided hwy, minimal traffic). This is also on performance tires, not LRR's, OEM's or snows...
Just saw this thread. I was astonished shortly after buying my Prius (new), that it was quite capable of exceeding 100 mph on level road. Defying all common misconceptions about this automobile, the Prius is very capable on a highway.
I did 104 once, I was coming into Nashville. I was actually trying to get around this guy who was driving all over the highway. I got out of there! It was a lot of engine noise getting up to 104 but it did it Surprisingly quick and when I got up there it was pretty smooth! The few other cars around me were going at least 90 mph. Btw I'm that guy that sits in the slow lane set at 65 or 70 most of the time.
Lol, I worked with a guy telling me about a Prius flying by him in Tennessee, maybe I know now. He said "I wonder what he had under the hood", I smiled.
Did 110 in my ford cmax last Saturday morning. Still driving like a grandpa 98% of the time, but with each new to me car I gotta see how it does
