Coolant temp--doesn't want to warm up (?)

    As has been said the Gen III does have this. And as been noted by myself and a few others it does not help if you pulse and glide or are in heavy stop and go traffic right after starting the car.

    Wow, That's kind of sucky ... I've noticed even in our thermos'd Gen II that if there's an ever so slight downhill grade, that after a long P&G, the ICE will kick back on. So I can see how using the Cat for heat would kill one's P&G ability in cool/cold weather. But on warm/hot days? That should help, right?

    Warm/hot days, no, not in the conditions I mentioned. Only if you are in a constant drive state will the recovery system produce measurable gain in warm-up in any temperature. But if you let the engine shut-off a lot in whatever driving your doing during warm-up, it's just extra weight. But if Toyota has any documentation on use during stop-n-go driving, I'd be happy to refute it.
