I might not have read tomhalv's posts closely enough, so I will also clarify that the "engine" does not run continuously. The hybrid system is on (Ready mode I guess) for 10 minutes to run the heater or AC and the engine itself only runs for brief periods to keep the traction battery charged. There is no reason to run the engine for 10 minutes straight with a Prius.

Thanks for the information, talked to my dealer and he said the same as you. I guess everthing is working with it, but I had a feeling that it was working the way it was designed, Toyota does make a quality product, and it amazes me something so techincal works as well as it does. The car is not perfect but it is the best on what it was designed to do. Get great mileage.
