Summers are way to busy for me, so I have missed all of the meetups and things. Once september rolls around my life calms down, so I will be one here a lot more and will be able to meet you all

Quick question. I was in OC the past two weeks and caught a quick "tonight at 5, Why it is even better to drive a hybrid" I wasn't going to remain in the condo just for a 2 minute news segment. I dont see it mentioned here, so was it nothing?

I didn't catch it but I don't watch much early evening news. Was it a network feed or a local affiliate to OC?

It was a DC station, fox or abc or something. If no one has heard of it, I guess it was something stupid

I would be up for a picnic (or cookout) in a centrally located park. CHART mentioned Glen Echo, which might be a good choice.

When I was last there, there was lots of good parking and the park itself seemed to only be opened for special events. It is a very pretty area. No close food tho....

I live right down the street from glen echo. it is open friday and saturday evenings for dances all year and there are other classes through out the week. We could easily meet there anyway. Local food is a problem though

I didnt even think about it, but there is a pizza/sub joint across the street from Glen Echo. We could grab food there and eat it at the park

OK vapor_pearl and Raenstoirm, looks like it is up to us. Someone has to gte this thing started :) I agree that Glen Echo is a relatively central location (within 5 miles of DC, VA and MD state lines.) Are you guys available next Saturday, October 9th? I could do a morning or early afternoon meet. The sub place sounds great!

I could make it either day but my wife is out of town on the 16th.

Not to throw a monkey wrench into things but considering the time of year have you thought about a "Fall Foliage Frolic"? It would be fun to take a little drive out to the Blue Ridge or the Catoctins enjoying the changing leaves and find a restaurant along the way.

Glen Echo sounds like a good location. I can't make the 9th but I think I could make the 16th (have to double check the calendar) People can bring their own food to picnic or there is a (pricey) cafe @ Glen Echo attached to the Spanish Ballroom.
I just got my car on Sept. 18th, '04 Seaside Pearl #4.

OK. It's starting to look like the 16th. Of course, I'm supposed to be selling cub scout popcorn sometime between 10a and 2p, but if that date at least works with PK, Raen, Danno (congrats Danno) and hopefully Pearl, I say we grab it! If I volunteer from 10a until 11a for the popcorn, I could be down at Glen Echo by noon. Pot-luck picnic at noon or 1ish work for everyone?

Personally, I also like the foliage idea from PK, but for our 1st meeting, I'm more concerned with nailing something down. What do you guys think?

I'll be there!! I definitely don't want to overorganize this, but are we pot-lucking a picnic, or everyone on their own??

I'd almost say do your own since heating and serving food there will be challenging.
