I love the official, and real names of the Prius colors for the Japanese market. I think we can make up some fantasy colors that sound just as unusual. I'll start. Emotional Emerald
I remember most of the first gen xB's I saw being driven buy those older than me. My father also liked it, but it was too small for their needs. He did get the second generation one. I test drove a xA before I got my Prius, but that was because the US didn't get an Echo hatchback. As long as Dragon Green is available for the Sonic, all other car color names are dead to me.
One of the other Gen 4 threads mentioned that Steel Blonde is for Japan and North America only so I'm guessing, yes? Also, the "carsdirect.com" website mentioned Sea Glass Pearl which isn't on the JDM colour list. Really? I doubt a colour like that is as essential or as large an omission as a heater in Canada. Check out the 2015 Accord. You can't get silver unless you buy an EX-L or Touring. The LX, SE and EX get a very limited colour selection. Really? Japanese colour names don't distinguish between different shades of colour. This "Emotional Red" is unique (as well as Attitude Black). It's usually just "dark blue mica metallic", "red mica metallic", "white pearl crystal shine", "olive green", and so forth.
As someone who has owned numerous Black vehicles, all I can say about heat resistant/reflective paint is "Meh".
That's just hidden charges for the color. Luxury brands just blatantly charge more for colors beyond the base two or three, with the cost appearing to be more a function of the model's base price than the effort of applying said paint.

Yeah but someone isn't going to throw out a few thousand dollars for a trim level with the colour they want. They'll settle with the limited colour choice. This is different from the Europeans (and Mazda at one point in the early 2000s) where the upcharge is Cdn$800 for metallic paint (anything that isn't flat white, flat black or flat red). Toyota GB charges for metallic paint while TMS/TCI just roll the cost in.
They will if they really want that color, and that is why Honda did it. I haven't been on their site in years, but in addition to the paint up charge, Volvo had a special option fee that needed to be paid in order to have the option to get fancier paint. It also needed to be paid for other top tier options like cruise control. Hyundai's low priced, base trims were equipped with a manual. What car companies charge for the automatic may be a little high, but you also had to get an options package that was $1000 to $2000 in order to pay the $800 for the automatic on those Hyundais. The car companies are in it to make money. They and the dealers aren't about using shady pricing configurations to maximize doing so. As for special paint prices, $800 can be low in regards to some models, and it mostly seems to be based upon how high end the model is. There are some paints that do require a lot more work. The Viper had a red that took a full week to apply. It was a $14k option.
Well if we're talking about really special paint, the GT-R has a special liquid silver paint option that's also in the $14k range. In terms of more "basic" paint, that same paint is used on multiple MB models but of course you pay for metallic paint on the B, C, CLA, GLA and GLC classes. I believe it's included in E-Class/GLE-Class and higher. Ditto BMW and its pricing scheme for metallic paint. Then again, a Cdn$65,000 vehicle doesn't have standard leather trim, but rather synthetic leather. In MB's defense, their Artico synthetic leather is pretty convincing in terms of look and feel. It's way better than their old "MB-Tex" which felt pretty cheap. Same as BMW's leatherette option but they haven't changed much and it really isn't that nice but people like it because it's easy to clean.
They should just cut to the chase: 000000 FF0000 0000FF FFFFFF 008000 FFFF00 and 94FF94 for the festive
so far I like the red... hopefully we get more real life videos of colors soon (cars outside, not under the show lights)
Is that a Gen 3 in Pyrite Mica? Yeah, it's similar to BMW's "beige". Google "BMW platinum bronze" or "mineral silver". It's lighter than platinum bronze, less silvery than mineral silver.
