Prius OCI now 10K, per article on the home page here.

You really need to be filled in about what happened here in the past. Think about it. PriusChat has been around for how long?

Someone else made that very same comment, but ended up complaining for years instead. He caused quite a bit of damage for you to deal with.

So, even if your intentions are benign, our perception here isn't. He left you with the loss of credibility about remorse.

History does come back to haunt.

I don't think so. My 2 Toyota dealers just recently confirmed that there is no official note from Toyota to date and not following the recommended OCI (5K still) until official note is released will void the warranty!

Right... you guys are making my critics about the car a lot more big deal than I am... just realize that...

Your dealer does not provide the warranty. TMC does. The 10K OCI is official. If you listen to the dealers, you be driving in B(battery) mode all the time to save gas. Also, Moss-Magnuson Act (sp?) does not allow manufacturers to void warranties that easily.

I hope it lives up to your expectation in both winter, summer and city traffic. You complain about every minor issues with your Prius. I can't imagine you owning a TDI with it's maintenance schedule and the major issues the current TDI owners are reported with.

Have you thought of the cabin warmth the TDI would give at every cold start?

My guess is 69 cu ft. Half of total passenger volume plus the hatch.

    According to Fuel Economy ...

    vehicle passenger volume luggage volume
    1 2002 Civic 91 ft3 13 ft3
    2 2010 Prius 94 ft3 22 ft3

I can see more passenger volume in Prius than Civic.

No, bellow is what I'm interested. I was just comparing the 02 civic with the Prius on FE in the hwy, not on volume.

    2010 A3 TDI|89 ft3|19.5 ft3
    2010 Prius|94 ft3|21.6 ft3

That's close enogh... that's why the Insight won't work for me but the A3 will...

But I would like to know is what is the luggage volume with seats down in the 2010 Prius... it is not the same thing as passenger volume... In the A3, the luggage volume is 39 ft3 with seats down, in the Insight it is 31.5 ft3...

More than 1/2 the passenger volume would be the front seat, so just folding the rears would leave less than 69 cu ft. Also folding the front passenger seat should allow more than 69 cu ft. Of course, no folding is required unless large items involved -- the space is there regardless.

Every car has its own set of problems... I just believe that the A3 TDI would deliver a much more comfy ride (nice solid interior with no rattles and less wind noise), similar lifetime hwy MPG or maybe a little less (with less MPG drop during winter), better sound system, much more torque and peppiness, and good reliability (not great like Toyota but Audi unlike VW is not bad in my experience - my family members have had Audis for a long time, so I know it). Of course there is a price for all that but it is less than I thought in the basic model... I would just consider the basic model otherwise I cannot afford it :)

Does Toyota say why the mpg goes down in the winter? I was getting toward 50mpg as I broke my engine in, except when it got cold, then in the 30's!

You are in the wrong church.
Really, why do you keep on preaching to the wrong choir ? Go to an Audi forum, and tell them how you wish you had an Audi, because you BELIEVE. I expect a warm welcome.

I know you won't switch. A3 TDI starts at $30.8k and that's more than 7k over the Prius III. You can not justify that especially because it gets less MPG, higher cost of maintaining and insuring it.

Not sure... nobody wants to give up their 2010 A3 for a Prius in the TDI forum... perhaps it would be easy to find a Prius lover here who wants it so badly instead of one’s current Audi...

The 2 Audi dealers I'm looking at are saying: to accept how much I'm willing to pay for the trade, they must get an used 2010 A3 TDI with similar mileage in the odometer as my Prius is... and they both find it difficult, not impossible, but very difficult indeed…

PLEASE, get an Audi IndyKing. We will periodically post your incessant whining on the Audi forums for amusement.

First thing: Is that from the 2010 A3 TDI? Of course not... Have you noticed that 08 got significantly better? Guess what 09 and 2010 look like...

Second: Do you know how many Audis my family members and close friends have had in the past 10 years? About 15 or so... no major complaints about reliability, so don't put all your bets in CR!

Third: The reliability in the 2010 is still in progress... it takes at least 3 years for any conclusions in my opinion.

One thing you are absolutely right: If I get the A3 and start having problems with it… not only the Audi forum folks will have to listen to my complains but I will let you guys know too... I have no reason to endorse any car whatsoever, only the ones that meets my expectations.

Besides... this forum would not be the same without my complaints... would it?

I must admit. The 2010 high demand and great resale value may make it possible!

Both dealers are aware I won't give more than 5K for the trade and they both agreed (although nothing really guaranteed) that if they find a 2010 with similar mileage as my Prius they could trade... the problem is that I must keep adding miles to my Prius, so this will become more and more improbable…
