I installed the Ultimate Lockpick 3 last week and it's working perfectly. I attached a longer A/V cable to the audio/video lockpick provided by CoastalTech and routed the longer cable through the bottom of the vent (right of the MFD). The cable was long enough to bring back to the center armrest console. I bought my cable at the Apple store for $19. The cable can be neatly tucked underneath the passenger side floormat. The only visual evidence of cabling is along the passenger side center armrest console. Not bad. I didn't want to drill any holes in the center console to completely hide the cable, plus this way, the cable is accessible to any DVD player or any other piece of equipment that I may want to show on the MFD, like my video camera.

And the answer is no, you cannot play video on the MFD by plugging the Video iPod in the Aux input.

The Nav lockpick took about 2 minutes to install and it works perfectly. None of the lockpick installation has affected any of the existing system components or their operations.

If you want to see some pictures, I can send some to you. For some reason, the jpeg's won't attach to this post.

    Oh well...

I can tell you they do not have the courtesy to reply to any email I send - I do not think they are worth contacting. I am not alone on this.

I have a 2007 and the only thing I am interested in is unlocking NAV & Bluetooth. Therefore I need the Ultimate Lockpick3 for 299. I could care less about watching a video on the MFD. Am not sure its worth it.

They have a lot of options that are hard to figure out. The $99 NAVI set has ONLY a connection to the NAV system. You remove a plug in the NAV unit, and put the LockPick between the old cable and the NAV system. The ONLY thing different you see on the screen is a little "pushpin" icon in the upper left of the screen on the destination input page. You touch that pushpin and the screen become un-grayed-out if you are moving.

As to "affect any of the comptuers or interfere or cause permanent damage", well, I can't certify that, but I have had no problems. No changes are visible except in the NAV function. These guys have been suppying Prius stuff since nearly day 1, and I've never heard of any permanent damage being done. I'd think that the biggest risk is Toyota seeing it and refusing to cover some unrelated warranty item. Not legal, but with computers it's hard to prove relationships.

If you look at the DVD Navigation demonstration from Toyota:
    http://www.toyota-eshowroom.com/partner/To...toyota_nav.html
Click on "Basics" then "DESTINATION Screen"

The "push pin" is actually a magnifying glass (indicating that you are searching for a location) and is already there before the Coastal nav kit, just to clear that up for those who might have been confused. All the Coastal nav kit does is make that icon "pushable" so it actually does something when pressed.

Can anyone confirm if, when in the middle of a bluetooth call and Nav guidence is on, when the voice gives directions, does the bluetooth call cancel out during that time?
I just noticed this and I would like to know if this happens to anyone else with the Ultimate Lockpick 3 plus.

If so, does anyone know if it is possible to wire it so that the nav voice comes from one speaker and the bluetooth call can come from another?

I've also notice during a bluetooth phone call when you try to get back to the Nav screen it cuts out the bluetooth for a few seconds. I remember calling Cheap! when I got into Houston to meet up and he had to tell me to hang on for a few seconds while he switched over to GPS mode so we could find a meeting spot because he was on bluetooth. I don't think there would be any way to wire it to seperate speakers because it probably goes through the same circuitry in the JBL amplifier and get's processed on the same speaker channel, not seperately run wires to the speaker. I think this is one we'll just have to live with.

Sonuvagun...I did not remember seeing that thingy before I installed the lockpick. I was wondering how they added some video. But this makes more sense...they screen must pass coordinates for a touch that the lockpick can intercept.

Here is an interesting thing: I had NAV on when I turned the car on. I immediately put it in reverse and got the backup camera before the lockpick had hit "I agree" on the NAV. When I went back into forward mode, the "I agree" screen was still there and the button was never hit. I suspect the LP is just noticing the first time since power up that you go to NAV and then inserting a touch at the right coordinate a few seconds later. It did not notice that something had switched away from NAV before the button was hit.

If you are not going to put in a DVD or other player right away, what do you guys recommend doing with the A/V cables so they are accessible but not really visible?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but what an informative one! I never looked closely at the Lockpick before, as I had thought it was only for overriding the "I Agree" screen, which IMHO has never been a concern. After all, it is just one button press (how is this different from pressing the lockpick "pushpin" to override the lockout?... on a related note, I hear this is no longer necessary on v7.1)... but I digress.

I just wanted to chime in that in 'normal' operation (i.e. without lockpick), Navigation voice guidance is automatically "muted" during a BT phone call, but if you press the MAP button it will mute your call instead while it repeats the last guidance instruction. If you want to jump to your map during a call without muting the phone, simply press the DEST button first, then press the MAP button. Doing so, 'Jill' will not repeat the last direction, and you will not get muted. ;)

That said, I am not sure if 4n6 is suggesting the call cuts out for each directive, or only when the MAP button is pressed? I would guess it would be the former, or else others would have made a similar complaint in this thread...?

In any case, that $99 looks like money well spent! I think I'll have to pick myself up one. B)

Howdy, Y'all! My first Post - lol. I have a 2007 Prius with all available accessories including NAV System. I purchased it on 02/11/2007, and currently have all of 4700 miles on it.

My experience with Coastaletech is: They seem to provide a well designed and thought out product for the most part. I personally purchased and use the "Electric Only" mode kit device and the "Auto Door Lock" kit device, and both function perfectly. I also got the "Power Outlet Mod", but I have not installed that device yet.

I contacted the company via email 2 times asking the same questions regarding clearing up the various Lockpick device functions and what Lockpick version I needed to purchase to allow my passenger to 1) Input a telephone number and dial out on BlueTooth while the vehicle is moving and 2) Input new address locations and enter them into the NAV System while the vehicle is moving. The Address Input function was the most important to me. The reply I finally got said I needed the Lockpick 3+ to do all that I wanted - Even though I had no interest whatsoever in the audio or video options. I wrote back asking if they had any sort of "Customer Loyalty" or "Repeat customer" discounts. Predictably, the answer was "No!". I did get a suggestion to just purchase the $99 Lockpick device and see if I could live with that. So I did, and "No!" I couldn't live with that. I sent for an RMA and at the same time I said that I wanted them to send me the Lockpick 3+ just as soon as the credit was processed on the returned Lockpick device. I received the RMA, returned the device, and fell into Coastaletech's great Black Hole of indifference. My reorder request was absolutely ignored, and I finally got just a credit on my credit card almost 2 months later. The email I sent immediately thereafter asking WHY they didn't honor my order of a more expensive replacement device was - as I had begun to expect - totally ignored.

Conclusion: IMHO, this company really doesn't really care a whole lot about what their customers think about them. They have the worst record of replying to customer inquiries, questions and concerns AND ORDERS I have ever encountered while dealing with Web-based sellers. They are "The only store in town" and they full well know that and they consequently treat their customers very shabbily and with complete disregard and total disrespect. HOWEVER, yes, I still do want to purchase and install the Lockpick 3+ - I just wish that Coastaletech at least SEEMED to care that I want to do business with them. On a scale of 1-10, the rating of the products I have purchased from them to date is a 10, but the company’s overall customer satisfaction rating (with me, at least) is -10! Too bad I can't purchase this product elsewhere - Or purchase a product with JUST the capabilities I want from ANY other company. Is there any other place to buy these types of devices?????

I hope Coastaletech's attitude toward and respect paid to their customers will improve - BUT I seriously doubt that will ever happen based on my past experiences with Coastaletech! The world seems to be very well populated with uncaring jerks, and sometimes we have to lower ourselves to deal with them whether we like it or not.

    Thank you, sfcitykitty

Anyone know if LP3 works with the 2008 prius? I have a mad need to put a car computer in.
