    Just traded in my 05 Prius for a 10 Prius and noticed this driving off the lot! (I noticed this during the test drive and thought it was the plastic film on the display causing it) This is very blurry and should be fixed, I am going to call them Monday morning to get the process going.

    I can't believe Toyota did not see this problem (minor, but aggravating) to begin with.

    Are the rest of you going to live with it?
    Thanks

    So far, I'm noticing that it's really dependent on the sun angle through the windshield and whether I'm wearing sun glasses. Some days, it's hard to see but on others, it's fine. Personally, I'll wait either until I go in for other service or until someone posts their dealer's response. Let us know if in fact you call Monday, and thanks.

    Our Sunglasses are a big part of the problem. Lift them up or take them off when you want to see the temperatures. :cool:

    Agreed, polarized lenses do obfuscate the display a bit at certain angles. Then again, you have this same issue w/ the NAV MFD or any LCD for that matter.

    Can someone post a photo of this "foggy, blurry" screen?

    Mine is blurry, also. Looks like a hard-coat applied to the acrylic to prevent scratches. Sorry, but getting pictures of this is hard.

    Screen1 = outside, close-up of temp setting
    Screen2 = from inside the garage, backlight showing up
    Screen3 = outside, full screen

    I agree the camera is not showing it as bad but it is close.
    Now this is inside a garage, blow the pictures up some.

    I bet if you picked at the corner, you'd find there's a protective film on this.

    I can definitely see it in your photos. That is pretty odd if there isn't a protective film over it.

    I know it seems like there is, but there is not one (I even tried to pick on a corner like you said, scratched the corner but not noticeable).

    There seems to be some kind of film, maybe residue from the film that the dealer pealed off, but so far I can not remove it.

    Funny thing is that I had a sticker on the top of the radio that I removed with tape (the left over residue that is from after removing the sticker) and in sunlight it is shinny in that spot and duller on the rest of the display (radio that is).

    There's something going on with the coating on the A/C screen. Mine has a matte coating--perhaps to reduce glare--that causes it to be blurry. The contrast is shown well in the pics above in the car without nav, where the audio screen is much clearer.

    I first thought it was a protective film, and tried peeling at the corners with no luck, plus the silk screened Plasmacluster logo is glossy & raised, so I don't think there's a temporary protective film.

    Most times during the day, that display is useless since I can't read the outside temp.

    Rick, I picked the hell out of my dads and there is no film on his... Maybe in the inside but not on the outside.

    His is way different than mine, so his def has this problem.

    I wonder if there's a film on the inside then. Either way, it's not right.

    Yeah, mine looks exactly like the pics posted. Hope they have a fix for this, it is annoying.

    Hmm... Mine also has the frost coating over the screen. That's weird that some of us have it and some of us don't.

    Mine are fine - but interested if in previous Prii generations, or Toyota in general - if it is determined to be a deficiency/defect in the module, would Toyota issue a TSB for replacement? This problem could number in the 1,000s. Costly, but if enough customers complain...

    I'll grab a pic of mine, though looking closely it does look slightly hazy - just not to the extreme that others have shown.

    My guess is it's intended to have the matte finish to reduce glare, and some people don't notice it, while others (me included) do. I don't like the clarity and readability (particularly in daylight) of the A/C display, but my guess is it's not a manufacturing defect--though certainly a design defect IMHO.

    Yeah, mine has the anti glare coating on it but my dads actual information on his screen looks blurry, not a cause of the anti glare coating on the top from what I remember when I first saw it.

    Tomorrow I will take a picture of mine and his and post them up for a direct comparison. It should be easily seen that way...
