Clock didn't adjust to Daylight Savings Time

It isn't one device, it is two independent devices. All trim levels have one of the devices, some of them (OK, most of them) also have the second.

One global setting for all devices would be nice, but somebody didn't put in the work and expense to do it.

 

Also, the Prius is set up according to Toyota's standard approach for radios.

In Japan, no radio is standard, you have to buy it as an accessory installed by your dealer. Toyota does have their own, including navigation, but there's also a huge aftermarket for radios that fit Toyota's 200 mm wide variant of double DIN, in the Japanese market.

In the US, Toyota has a system optimized for the US market, known as Entune. (I believe this shares a codebase with the Lexus Enform systems - based on a lot of the UI widgets, anyway - which are used on Lexus cars everywhere.) Note that Canada gets the same software, just without the Entune branding or (on the navigation head unit) the Entune App Suite smartphone integration.

In Europe, Toyota has another system, Touch 2.

So, the car is designed around not having to have a radio at all (hence the independent clock in the instrument cluster), having an aftermarket radio, having a Japanese-market Toyota radio, having a Toyota Entune radio, or having a Toyota Touch 2 radio. That's why this stuff isn't integrated.

 

And my Trim Two only has one clock - There is no GPS navigation system.

The GPS system is not a standard option and manufactured by another company. No one company has all the resources to manufacture all the partying a vehicle themselves. It would raise the cost enormously to do that.

 

However, they could've used a protocol for, say, the instrument cluster's clock to be set by the navigation system clock.

 

So what car has automatic daylight savings time? My Windows XP computer doesn't even handle it properly since the rules changed after the last XP update

 

The rules changed in 2007, meaning that you've missed about seven years of XP updates. See here.

 

Thanks! That system has SP3 installed, which as far as I knew was the last official update. Plus the security updates just announced for June 2017. So are there any other updates beyond SP3?

I wonder if that machine can boot from other than C? There's a Windows 98 off there on drive E or so...

The main reason I gave the example is that car manufacturers are hardly into regular software updates. If they attempted to provide automatic DST updates they'd be out of date somewhere in the world rather quickly.

That update should be available through Windows Update, though, and anything with SP3 should already have it, actually.

If you're booting from another partition with an older OS, though, that could easily explain it. However, that KB article also mentions the registry keys that are changed, and I believe the same registry keys will work on all Win9x or newer OSes. (If not, there's ways to fix it on Win9x, I'm pretty sure.)

I have a 2017 Gen4 Prius. I change from NZDST to NZST and back by the simple but cunning expedient of pushing H on the data display.

The first-world problem that keeps me awake to the extent of needing psychiatric counselling (and copious amounts of legal varieties of ethanol) lies in the embedded JBL navigation system the car came with. The time there is stuck on daylight saving and can’t be changed without changing the time zone. The problem is that the car doesn’t work very well in mid ocean.

Any advice gratefully appreciated.
