In many areas, that won't be to code. There's a much better (and equally simple) way to go. Have that 240 line fed into a disconnect box. In the box have 2 individual breakers - one for the heater & one for your EVSE. Have both breakers on an 'interlock' plate (see picture). . Interlock.jpg

Turning on which position your breaker is in - it's impossible to feed the other breaker. And, each utility has its own breaker.

Thanks for the advice. The disconnect box looks very nice. what is the brand and model of the box?

Toyota and the rest of the car companies should make these dual voltage and they should come standard with plug-ins. Just like the chargers for my laptop, smartphone...etc. It makes no sense they haven't figured this out yet!

Oh wait, Tesla already figured it out.

I agree it seems really silly not to include that circuitry in every model.

if you buy or build your own quick 220 appliance...
    Quick 220 Systems
...you can reassemble 240v from opposite 120v legs ( as long as neither have ground fault interrupters).

When you move you can take it with you. Most of the EV chargers for the garage are hardwired to your electric panel and cost more.

It means you don't need to run wires or install a breaker. Depending on the situation, it might be as simple as the electrician installing a second electrical box next to the existing one and using the new one to connect your equipment. It may be a very quick and simple job.

    13 amps at 120 or 240 volts.

The first generation pip will not, but a 40 amp system does not cost double the price of a 20 amp setup, only a little more, and you would be ready for later and presumably more powerful machines.

someone here got a juice box a while ago. i think they liked it, but it didn't come with the battery case like they show in the pic for the low price. looks like it comes with a built in timer?

Clippercreek is a great product imo, but I know many want more plugin range/capacity. That means you're going to want to have faster charging. That'll require more power. The JuiceBox can deliver about FIVE times the 204v charge rate of what the PiP's system is designed to receive. But Dee's have already mod'd pack sizes as well as charging speeds. For example, the folks on the Toyota RAV4ev forum are finishing up a ~ $2,000 "J-plug to Chademo adapter" called the Jdemo
Toyota Rav4 EV Forum • View topic - CHAdeMO for Rav4 EV "JdeMO"

.... that'll supposedly provide almost 100 miles in a tad more than a half hour. All that to say - it's good to buy more evse than one needs ... looking forward to the next generation.
