As said before, check under the cargo floor for the cargo cover. Unfortunately, it could still be in the garage of the previous owner. It was standard equipment on my 2012 v Five.

Allow me to summarize: OP wants a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT vs Toyota over naming conventions because she did not know what features her used car included.

Someone signs up on Dec 26th and wants a class action law suit because their used car purchase was not spec's the way they wanted it?

Sounds more like an April Fool's joke to me.

i think she's just frustrated. i don't like toyota's designation's either. maybe that's why i'm sympathetic. it's ridiculous that people have to preface their posts with 'lowercase' or 'uppercase' or blah, blah, blah, just to tell you which model and package prius they have.

Sure, the designations can be confusing. But advocating for a class action lawsuit vs Toyota because she did not perform due diligence with her used car purchase is ludicrous. If LKA was so important to her, all she had to do was tell the salesdweeb to show it to her before she bought the car, or itemize on the bill of sale that it exists. Is it so hard to take just a teeny, itsy little bit of responsibility !?

And FWIW, options are always tricky to pin down in any car because they typically are not included in the model name. Toyota is probably easier than most other manufacturers because of the tendency to sell packages of options.

Well, if she wants the forum to think she is pathetic, all she has to do is ask.

I don't believe the regular members here are doing that. It looks more like the action of a website enforcer-moderator trying to head off some of the same confusion that the OP suffered.

Oh yeah. We rolled our eyes and swore under our breath when we learned of the new designations. I mean seriously, how much easier would the whole thing have been if the cars were named Prius Liftback, Wagon, Plug-in, and Compact. Each one could have their own 1 - 5 packages and no one could possibly confuse a Prius Liftback 5 with a Prius Wagon 3.

I think Toyota was so focused on pushing the "Prius Family" of vehicles that they were afraid to "move forward" with their naming conventions.

I will say I agree with Tony. You can still call all the vehicles in "The Family" Prius BUT go by designations that are far less potentially confusing such as Lift Back, Plug In, Compact and Wagon.

Half the time I don't know what to call my "standard" regular Prius? I don't particularly like calling it The Lift Back, as it sounds very 70's.

I will concede this much to the OP. Yes the model designations, combined with specific trim level grades, can become confusing. However, it is still the primary responsibility of the buyer to know what they are buying. And any salesman or dealership worth their salt SHOULD tell you and be able to tell you exactly what you are purchasing.

With the corporate move to Texas, maybe the new atmosphere will lead to better decision making!

I guess I don't understand the confusion over the various models & configurations of the Prius. There are basically 4. The Prius Plug-In, and the Prius Plug-In Advanced; the Prius "station wagon", aka as the v (which uses a lowercase v, not an uppercase) the letter v which stands for "Versatility", NOT the uppercase roman numeral V) that comes in models or "trim" Two, Three, and Five; the Prius C, that comes in models or "trim" One, Two, Three and Four; and the Prius hatchback/liftback, that comes in models, or "trim" Two, Three, Four, and Five (That's Five as in 5, not V -BUT- 2010 Prius did use uppercase Roman numerals for model or trim designation). Earlier this year when I decided to buy a Prius I did a lot of extensive, initial research. I decided on the hatchback and went to the dealership and picked up the Prius 2014, 20 page brochure. Lo and Behold! Knock me over with a feather! But at the end of the brochure there was a very comprehensive breakdown of each of the five hatchback models and the features they come with. It's pretty much a no-brainer. I think it's very important when going into a dealership to be armed with as much info as possible. In some cases you will probably be more informed than the salesperson, and that's a good thing. I could never understand why someone spending a five figure sum for a car doesn't do the necessary research beforehand. I've know people who more thoroughly research a large flat-screen TV than a car. o_O Just don't get that.

^^Oskar, I actually had to edit your post because you did confuse the situation somewhat by not using the V and v correctly in your descriptions and that is the culprit of much of this. Let me try and explain this:

There is the Prius liftback. In 2010 trim/models were designated by uppercase Roman numerals. I, II, III, IV and V. For 2011 Prius through now trim/models go by One, Two, Three, Four and Five. I think Hawaii kept Roman numerals for 2011 but let's not even focus on that since it was one state. Yeah, go figure.

There is the Prius Plug-in introduced in 2012, it used Base or Advanced for trim/model.

There is the Prius v, the wagon. The v does stand for versatility. It is a lowercase v. Why is it a lowercase and why is it important to know this? It helps distinguish it from a 2010 Prius V, especially when people are writing here in the forums. Introduced also, in 2012 and trims/models go by the Two, Three etc. There has been no Four model/trim until the 2015 model year.

Lastly there is the Prius c. Introduced in 2012, it to goes by two, three etc for trim. It too is a lowercase c but since it cannot cause confusion within the forums it basically gets a pass since there wasn't a 2010 Prius C as in an uppercase Roman numeral C for model/trim in 2010, Thank god.

Fair enough, and I can see where the confusion lies. Appreciate the clarification. However, I still stand on the basic premise of my post which is that one should really take the time, and make the effort, to research what they are buying. If they want the Prius v, then get the catalog and review the breakdown of features in the back. The same with the PiP, Prius c, & hatchback. I think once you know which type of Prius you want that finding the specific model, or "trim" is relatively easy.

I guess what isn't easy is Toyota's confusing designation of various Prius models, and changing them each year. Even I, who is near perfect, fell victim. ;)

I do not disagree with your premise on anything else, it echos my sentiments as well. It's the v and V thing that needed to be addressed as it has caused and unfortunately will continue to cause headaches on the forum.

Hopefully now the OP has learned to better research her car buying in the future, that looking to file a lawsuit for not doing ones homework properly is a poor idea, people have learned the distinction between using Prius V and Prius v and this thread can hopefully fall into the shadows of threads past within Priuschat.

We have tip-toed around the fact that NO car maker these days makes an owner's manual that is specific to the car that you actually buy.

Typically there is only ONE manual produced for a given model and it covers every POSSIBLE factory option.......and some dealer installed too.
