    I must be off to my jam, perhaps to return another time for more mirroring of my way less than sage 65 years of accident-free driving, not including the drunk that rear ended my 2012 v (it is a lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) whatever a month ago and got locked up for DUI. Oh, and I think I did recognize distractedness, but, whatever, I hear fiddle music. Thank you all for your wise council.

    You are certainly keeping me confused.

    Could you please repeat the model year of your car that was totaled? Or did you have multiple Priuses / Prii that were so victimized?

    If you just bought this car yesterday, many states have some form of "buyer's remorse" in which the dealer takes back your car (less some reasonable amount of cents per mile driven), and let you out of your contract.

    If you act fast, this might be the easiest way to get out of the Prius you're in, and into the Prius you want.

    Most states have no such provision. I suspect your 'many' approximately equals 'zero'.

    I see that California requires used car sellers to offer a 2-day cancellation option. But this is an extra cost option, which the car buyer is not required to purchase.

    I'm mistaken, there doesn't appear to be many (any?) whole states that mandate that... it just appears that some dealers provide such.

    Sorry, I've never had "buyer's remorse"; just know a few people who have, and they've been able to get out from their purchases with a day or two's time.

    Here in PA we sign a "no cooling off period" contract at signing time.


    But


    Any dealership will gladly trade you up to a new car at anytime, It might just cost you a few hundred to a few grand, depending how generous they are feeling... You will def take a hit, how big a hit is the key question...

    Poster talks about E. Denning , for those who wonder , here are his 14 points for management

    1. Create constancy of purpose toward improvement of product and service, with the aim to become competitive and to stay in business, and to provide jobs.

    2. Adopt the new philosophy. We are in a new economic age. Western management must awaken to the challenge, must learn their responsibilities, and take on leadership for change.

    3. Cease dependence on inspection to achieve quality. Eliminate the need for inspection on a mass basis by building quality into the product in the first place.

    4. End the practice of awarding business on the basis of price tag. Instead, minimize total cost. Move toward a single supplier for any one item, on a long-term relationship of loyalty and trust.

    5. Improve constantly and forever the system of production and service, to improve quality and productivity, and thus constantly decrease costs.

    6. Institute training on the job.

    7. Institute leadership (see Point 12 and Ch. 8). The aim of supervision should be to help people and machines and gadgets to do a better job. Supervision of management is in need of overhaul, as well as supervision of production workers.

    8. Drive out fear, so that everyone may work effectively for the company (see Ch. 3).

    9. Break down barriers between departments. People in research, design, sales, and production must work as a team, to foresee problems of production and in use that may be encountered with the product or service.

    10. Eliminate slogans, exhortations, and targets for the work force asking for zero defects and new levels of productivity. Such exhortations only create adversarial relationships, as the bulk of the causes of low quality and low productivity belong to the system and thus lie beyond the power of the work force.

    • Eliminate work standards (quotas) on the factory floor. Substitute leadership.
    • Eliminate management by objective. Eliminate management by numbers, numerical goals. Substitute leadership.
    11. Remove barriers that rob the hourly worker of his right to pride of workmanship. The responsibility of supervisors must be changed from sheer numbers to quality.

    12. Remove barriers that rob people in management and in engineering of their right to pride of workmanship. This means, inter alia, abolishment of the annual or merit rating and of management by objective (see Ch. 3).

    13. Institute a vigorous program of education and self-improvement.

    14. Put everybody in the company to work to accomplish the transformation. The transformation is everybody's job.

    When I bought my 2012 Prius v (wagon) 5 with adv.tech.pkg. the dealer said that the lane assist function would not work well on snowy roads. I had to educate them that the Prius v did not come with lane assist function.

    But now I read that the 2015 prius v model made the option available if you get the trim level 5 and buy the adv. Tech. Pkg. On top of that.

    I also find the brochures at the dealers a good way to read up on the vehicle options, but only for the current model year.

    If it works anything like my Fusion does...................
    The LKA and accident warning and adaptive cruise and automatic wipers ALL use a forward looking camera mounted near the rear view mirror.
    The LKA will not work anyplace that the lines painted on the pavement are not clearly visible........due to snow, fog, faint lines due to age......or just simply not being present.

    So, the 2010 that was totaled is listed on the pink sheet as FIV NAV LA; I guess it is easier to cap everything on there. A Google brought up one for sale in CA, but it has no buttons on the steering wheel for a LKA, nothing on the right side. The manual I was given for the 2010 only states PRIUS, no model stated, and was never given the sticker sheet, did not know to ask for it, but manual given me for 2010 has two function buttons on the right side for LKA and the one with headlight illustration (never figured what that does), same as mine. Maybe they should have a model called Prius Pokemon.


    Apparently my 2012 car does not include the cargo cover that the rear section has ledges to latch one on, like my 2010 had. Can one expect that to be listed? Should I go check to make sure I have sun visors since I did not ask for them or see them listed. [sarcasm] But I'm off to another thread, looking for an after market Lane Departure Warning. I LIKED that feature/app/extra.

    In 2010, there was only one kind of Prius, in five different trims with some additional options. LKA was not standard equipment on any trim, but was an optional package item available on only one trim. (I still have the 2010 brochure.)

    By 2012, there were four different kinds of Prius (traditional or Liftback, 'c' or compact, 'v' or wagon, and Plug-In), in multiple trims with additional options.
    The window sticker (Monroney label) is required only on new cars. It is usually in a landfill or recycle bin before the car is sold as 'used'.
    Yes, if it had a cargo cover, that was listed on the new car Monroney sticker. But as a used car buyer, you missed the opportunity to see that sticker, so you must do your own due diligence to make sure the features you need or want are present.

    I just checked the window sticker of my 2012 Liftback (I do save such things, and include them with the car when sold, even if twenty years old), and the cargo cover is listed there. I doubt the law requires such minutia to be listed, but few car makers want their feature list to appear short. And numerous vehicles out there make that cover an extra cost option, or bundle it with other extras.

    Did you look underneath the cargo area floor panel, in the tray on top the spare tire? The Liftback has special shaped slots to store the cover down there, your 'v' ought too also. If you are lucky, someone stashed a cover there.

    Not much compassion here.

    Absolutely NO GROUNDS for a "Class Action Suit".

    While I agree it is MINIMALLY confusing that every vehicle in the Prius family is called "a prius". When is it NOT the responsibility of the buyer to know what they are buying?

    If Lane Keep Assist was a deal maker/breaker? Then as the buyer you make sure the vehicle has that feature BEFORE buying it. And if you are at a dealership that can't tell you what features the vehicle they are trying to sell you has? Then you go to a different dealership.
