that's my concern. no one seems to want to go the extra few inches to make it prius size. we find the back seat quite roomy.
It is a trade off of size for weight and cost. The Sonic is a subcompact. The Prius and Camry are midsize. There is a whole car size class between them. For GM to make the Bolt the same size as a Prius would mean using the Cruze or even Malibu platform. More body means more cost and weight. Even with 200miles range very few potential owners will be taking the Bolt on long trips, regardless of whether the back seat is roomy. While cramped, the rear seat of a subcompact will work for getting the kids to school and lunch trips with coworkers. Larger rear seat would be better, but lower price will be more helpful in selling the car.
The only way GM can screw up the bolt is if they don't include a quick charge DC port & decent thermal management for the traction pack . .
The Spark EV has liquid cooling for the battery and DC charging is optional, so I'm sure they'll carry it right over for the Bolt.
