I forgot to take the damper off on mine one time. When I released the glove compartment door and it fell down the damper came off and disappeared. I looked everywhere in the area behind the door. Finally after about 3 months I found it in a small crevice back there and put it back on. If you just keep looking you may find your's hiding back there somewhere. Look back on the right side and down where the damper was connected. Mine was laying in a crevice there. Good luck to you.

I much prefer the Prius design, with no screw holding the damper to the actual "door."

Camry has a short screw that needs to be removed first. Said screw always rolls somewhere on the floor mat out of sight.

I clean my filter once a year and if it needs - change it.

I normally just cut up typical home central A/C filters for the Prius cabin air filter. It costs almost next to nothing. DSCN4441.JPG

You're not replacing the filters often enough...especially when they cost next to nothing. That old one looks horrendous

It was an extreme case, since I totally forgot about the cabin filter for a while a few years back. I do replace these filters every six months or so now.

Bought my OEM filters online for $15. Dealer wanted $26. In my 2016 they call it a cabin pollen filter. It was very dirty after 12 months. I will replace it twice a year with a new one. I don't skimp on filters, and I never "blow out" or vacuum old filters. My engine air filter also looked quite dirty after only 11,500 miles. New one was $12. I have no problem buying fresh filters and replacing the dirty ones. 10 minutes or less. (Oil change every 5k. Keeping this car for 15 years.)

Hit up Rock Auto. Prius Cabin filters are about $3 to $3.50 depending on the day.

At least it appears to be working. Got your money's worth out of that one.

BTW keep telling my daughter to not park under trees.

Pretty cheap on ebay. Somewhere I posted a real cheap site that actually sell OEM filters in Peking.

Still can get both. They were actually in an OEM box even though it said OEM quality.

As I have said many times. This filter is not all that important.

Yeah, try to keep it clean so that you don't get some really rancid smell in the car, but other than that, any sort of filter that fits is good enough....I still swear by TYC -- around $3-$4 each on Ebay or Rock Auto.

Sounds like a good way to get black lung disease.

Getting enough charcoal in my lungs thanks to the summer wildland fires, thank you.

Get over it people. A paper towel would serve as an O.K. cabin filter -- although I don't know how much air flow it would allow.
