Most of the more capable scantool apps in the review thread (such as the autel) will only work with their own proprietary devices (and vice versa).

If all you want is something for DrPrius, then you have to look at a "generic" OBD2 bluetooth device for your smartphone. Most are for android, a few are specifically iphone compatible.

It is a little difficult as the list on the DrPrius site is several years old and what's available now has changed. So some recommendations are outdated (the BAFX device that I have works fine but doesn't seem to be available anymore).

The OBDlink MX+ is a good device but it's pricey for "just" DrPrius. (the OBDlink app isn't very good compared to a more capable app like autel's).

Turns out I wont be buying any...was digging thru my prius parts and forgot that I had purchased a OBDlink LX to work on a highlander and that happens to work with Dr. Prius.... all is good on that end, will post results soon.

Ok so I managed to use my OBDLink LX to Dr. Prius and got some readings. However, I am new to this app and deciphering the readings on it as whole. I took a screenshot of the readings with the car off on ACC mode and a small video with the car one and readigns go up and down not sure if thats normal.

Below is a photo of readings on ACC mode (car off) and the video link for youtube of the readings

You need to take a video of the Dr Prius app data when you are driving the car. The best is to do hard acceleration and maximum regenerative braking during the drive. Then, post the new video.

The second pair of modules has values lower than the neighboring pairs of modules.
With a difference of 0.3V, the ECU records an error on the battery.
You need to find out why the voltage in the second pair of modules is lower.

Thats where I would need the help as my electrical diagnosis expertise is to a minimum. I have checked the Hybrid ECU and does not look burnt nor are the pins loose or damaged. Wiring looks intact. My next move was to remove the battery cover exposing the cells and inspect connections at each cell for corrosion. As mentioned before, the car had a replacement HV battery back in 2017 and lasted until this year when the car was parked for a year and when restarted, this battery issue happen. I dont think anything was done incorrectly by HV battery installers as it wouldnt have lasted 7 years IMO.

So could something be causing the HV battery to show a fault then rather than coming to the conclusion that its just a bad HV battery or specific cells need replacing?

It appears that the problem is in block #2 of the battery. One or both of the modules in that block has a problem.
