Charging timer; use or not?

So far I've used both 'charge now' and timer. Both have worked fine. The timer has finished an hour or two before the finish time I requested, according to the emails I get from Entune.

 

I'm reasonably sure it cools the cabin and draws cabin air to cool the battery.

 

Can you explain what do you mean by active?
Prime and PiP have forced circulating air cooling, not natural circulated - for me this is active.

 

It's the difference between active air cooling and active water cooling.

 

Correct terminology.

Yeah, I dropped the liquid there. Liquid is better for in terms of maintaining battery life, and reducing winter loses.
The extra cost and weight, mean active air is fine for a PHEV with a smaller battery. There is still the ICE in the event excess heat or cold effect EV operation.

 

Winter here, so time of day didn't seem a concern for heat, but now I know why this is helpful. I had mine set on, but then twice I forgot when I plugged in day-time that I had it set for ready at 7:00 AM. Turned it off now.

 

For whatever it's worth, I'm not optimistic about the P.Prime's air-cooling idea. Sounds like a repeat of the Leaf, which started it with air cooling (some claimed "no cooling"), got hit with a class-action suit, and switched over to liquid cooling.
