Well... <---- Besides this one... And my old T-buckets and V8 Vegas... I always smile when I see these fine machines... There are others...
1959 Ford Anglia dimensions, from Wikipedia: Wheelbase: 2311mm Length: 3912mm Width: 1422mm Height: 1422mm 2009 Ford Fiesta dimensions, from ford.co.uk: Length: 3950mm Width: 1722mm (without mirrors) Height: 1481mm 2009 Ford Ka dimensions, from parkers.co.uk (not given on ford.co.uk): Length: 3620mm Width: 1894mm (with mirrors) Height: 1505mm If it's smaller than a current 'B' segment car, I'd count it as a micro car, even if at the time it was considered 'C' segment! The Anglia was replaced by the Escort, and in 1998, that was replaced by the Focus. Current Focus dimensions - 5 door hatch: Length: 4337mm Width: 2020mm (1839 without mirrors) Height: 1497mm Admittedly doors (for example) are now 100mm thick rather than less than 25mm, and there's front and rear crash structure, but there's been a heck of a lot of size inflation over the years. "We've achieved X amount of extra interior room compared to the old model (and only increased the exterior dimensions Y amount)." Repeat that 10 times and your car is 10% longer, 29% wider. It still can't really accommodate five passengers, though. My parents have a 2001 Focus and are complaining that the new one won't fit in their garage. Time to scale down to a Fiesta-class, I think.
The cars that changed NASCAR. Back when they had to be a street legal batch sold to the public before you could race em on the track. The record-setting 200 mph Dodge Charger Daytona I never owned a Daytona... I have owned two Dodge Chargers... a 68 in High School, and a 69 Hemi R/T when I was a young soldier in the mid 70's.
No, Guy- It wasn't the photo that you uploaded, it was a bit smaller than that and a more boxy 2 door. I found a photo at: 1959 Ford Anglia Pictures - Pics for used Ford Anglia - Picture of 1959 Ford Anglia - CarGurus Yes, you're correct, it is not a micro----but, it sure is a mini!!! ha ha
Guy? Name's Pat. In Australia (and I believe the UK) that was a Ford Prefect. Did you ever wonder where ford Prefect in Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy got his name from? Actually the mini was considerably smaller than a Ford Prefect/Anglia. Remember, the mini only had 10 inch wheels. I think BMW have a cheek calling that huge thing they make a mini.
You're both correct... at different times the design was owned by different folks... and thus the variant names... and several powerplant options. I new em as a Sterling Nova... and I saw one with a totally clear bubble top that lifted... I thought that thing must have been a slow cooker in the sun...
