How about Prius members that make me smile? I always like a nice warm muffinologist to make my day. I don't know if she is warm but I would bet the house she is if I was a betting man...
How could anyone not smile at the Isetta ~ If the air cooled - leaf blower ICE wasn't enough, believe it or not, you could stick a blown V8 in it ... with just a few mods of course see? I dare anyone to ride in it without a smile (and the upholstery puckered up your hinie)
To each, his own. I can't help but wonder if the near-barren landscape in the background has some connection with the object in the foreground.
Try here BRP Can-Am | Spyder Ryder Malorn, is ugliness an art form in the US auto industry? What is with the chromed barbecue grill?
Would you like to be driving it when it goes out of control and heads for the wall up on the one back wheel? Not me!
Maybe I shouldn't have posted it ... technically, since it's a 3 wheeler, the Isetta isn't a car that makes me smile. Were they 3 wheel? ... or 4 ... I can't remember. [Edit: Oh, they made 2 versions ... who knew] Still, there is something to be said for a 3 wheeler: Production is still scheduled for this year ... no more gas! ... woo hoo !
The Isetta had four wheels, although the rear two had a rather narrow track. See this: Yahoo! Image Detail for static.flickr.com/3129/2519338374_f6491d6fae.jpg I don't know if it's true, but back in the day it was said that the narrow track qualified the vehicle as a three-wheeler, i.e., a motorcycle thus without the regulatory/safety requirements for a passenger vehicle.
Besides my SuperWhite 2008 Prius Touring the only car that made my heart sing was my Baby Blue '73 VW Beetle - $2300.00 out the door - truly a "car for the people." I was hoping that Prius would reign as the new holder of that austere position, but I'm afraid that the Gen III will be priced out of the reach of the "people."
The only car that ever gave me "the warm fuzzies" was a '98 laser red Mustang named "Melissa" by me..........now my world has changed and I am in love with "Eleanor" my '09 SuperWhite Prius. Wow what a 180!!
Spectra, Three questions: By any chance is that Canon Beach Oregon? I vacationed there long, long ago. Is that classic beauty your car? (if so, you lucky [beach] bum.) Is the board "period correct," that is balsa wood?
Don't I wish that it was mine! --Just dreaming on. Borrowed the photo from Google Images. ( .......... but I think my banana boat could be safely carried atop this woody ........ ) The boards do seem to be long-boards, perhaps of balsa. Just like "The Duke" (Kahanamoku) would have used on the North Shore ... Canon Beach? This is the info on the web site: 1946 Pontiac owned by Tom Templeton. Photographed at Morro Bay, California. Photos copyright of Last Wave Originals The site is actually a UK site: From the Beach Buggy to the classic Woodie you have found surf wagons ("Back in the day," I did strap a windsurfer on the roof of my 1982 Renault LeCar)
My Dad had bought a 1959 Ford Anglia, I don't know why, I was just a munchkin in '59, but, I remember a trip to the mountains, with a family of 5, (2 adults and 3 brats in the back).............just something about the suspension going around those curves....did something to all of us. It would have been nice to see one of those in the MicroMuseum.
