I had a buddy with a turbo Corvair... I'd like to expand on this one too... 1962 Corvair convertible... 1964 Monza Spyder Yenko Stinger #YS-302... THE ONLY DOCUMENTED CONVERTIBLE.
Unimogs, the only vehicle I've ever seen climb a vertical wall: Or a smart car, but only if it was diesel and got more than 38mpg: And my TDI, when I'm flying past folks on the highway thinking, "I'm STILL getting way better mileage than you"
amm0bob, Thanks for all your input. I've enjoyed them all. These comments refer to post #161. I don't really get why this idea has any on-going "traction." Still it has me smiling, if for nothing else than for its persistence despite it's everyday, real world impracticality. Let's see now... Your every day driver making a cross-wind final approach while using a cell phone, munching on a breakfast burrito, and shaving/putting on make-up. Yikes! My skepticism aside, here's a piece on the long history of this idea: The Roadable Times And here's a contemporary European auto-gyro concept: Pal-V The Aero Car lives on... at least as vaporware.
There are others that have similar cars... This one is called a Milner I think... And I am going to get me an ultralight gyrocopter after things settle down around me a bit... been up in a Benson a few years back... it was a blast.
Cars that made the trip to Bonneville and set speed records... A diesel at 308 mph... The Blue Flame went 622 mph in 1970... A six ton diesel truck went 178 mph... The bring what ya got crowd... And of course... I can't leave out this one.
How's about a few weird yellow cars... The Pacman car... Or the Goldfish car... The Nutmobile... Low Rider short school bus... And for those of you that are cat lovers... the Cat Car...
The Good Humor Ice Cream Man... I can remember running after them to get them to stop... The first one... Oh... a pedal car for the kiddies...
In Sacramento, and in Hampton, I remember them being in a DIVCO... My Dad was a military man... so we relocated often in my childhood... the Milkman trucks didn't change much as I remember... They looked like this... Here's a little site about DIVCO... Divco, the Milk Truck
TJandGENESIS, amm0bob, The DIVCO milk trucks were also posted in posts #42 and 45. This is meant to be a fun thread so there is no problem with duplicate posts, especially if they have relevant personal comments. :cheer2: Enjoy!
